Isn't it, essentially? The quality of something is generally due to its utilitarian aspects. As far as music goes, it exists for entertainment and enjoyment. However, after that, many people diverge in their opinions as to what they enjoy - some enjoy technical prowess, compositional complexity, certain genres, etc. For instance, there are many even on this board who enjoy music less the more it is produced, when technically, it results in an "increase in quality." Since it's subjective, I suppose there would be two qualities: one's own personal opinion on quality, and overall quality - the opinions of everyone in the aggregate.
I was just thinking that it is possible to determine that a song is crap (unoriginal, overproduced, whatever) and still actually enjoy it. But then am I judging by different criteria other than the music itself?
I can agree that in terms of music (as all art) serving no practical purpose, enjoyment is probably the only real measure of quality.

That's a good point. I suppose there is no real "overall" quality of a song. However, to determine that a song is "crap" in that manner - while still enjoying it - is more like ignoring the good qualities (and subconsciously appreciating them) while focusing on the bad qualities (to maintain cognitive consistency with what you overtly value in music).

Just came back to say I love this song now. Figures.
I guess that solo caught me off guard while I was staying up late to study for finals, I don't know. I might even dig this new style change a little. Its got some elements that are undeniably attractive that spawn from the pop genre(Catchy Choruses), and Manabe still lays down fresh melodies.
I think it would be kind of an exaggeration to say its another generic Jpop song, if only because the bridge and solo seem a little more memorable and inspired than I had first imagined....
Or maybe the style change is kind of refreshing. I'm kind of a sucker for that high-pitched squealing guitarists pull off, so more of that would be nice.
Sidetracked, I hope you enjoy.

Wow I never thought this would happen but this song is really good with kids.
I showed my cousin (13)this song and he really liked it. Then my 2 little cousins(10 and 5) also watched it and they really liked it. May this be an approach to younger generation or just that younger kids are really keen and use to pop songs?
I personally like this song, really cool. I still say it reminds me of The Jetsons. It could have been the opening song

As mention before (by me) This song seemes like it will fit into some kids cartoon show in some outgoing moment. And or in some speed scene
Actually now that i think about it more. It also could be the intro of an anime

I've been into them since the first year my uncle showed me FLCL so...
Yea I guess its about 8 years for me too. Since I'm 14 now, I guess that means I got into them when I was 6? No that can't be right...
This is confusing. I don't remember liking any music at all back then, but I'm positive I remember watching the show subbed when my uncle showed it to me.
Meh, I guess I don't mind hopping onto the bandwagon 3 years late either. Unless Wikipedia is lying, I've been listening to the Pillows since I was 9.
That is kind of weird, remembering how they outlasted every band my friends introduced to me.
