All of their albums are good.

Agreed, 100%.

word at 1000% and i cant say My Foot was the "worsest" as our boy rockman240 says here. that would be overexagerated and probably untrue.

lol, opinions.
I'll say this. I love all of the pillows' albums. Some are much better than others, but despite that fact, I don't think they're ever going to release an album (or a single, for that matter) that I won't heavily enjoy or play a lot.
Personally, I'd prefer it if the pillows didn't go in this mid-tempo over-produced pop direction. But still, I love the music they put out.
Sure, Good Dreams and Penalty Life aren't as solid as Happy Bivouac or Thank You, My Twilight. Even still, both of those albums have...I Know You, Moon Marguerite, Terminal Heaven's Rock, Dead Stock Paradise, Freebee Honey, Sono Mirai wa Ima, Good Dreams, Frontiers, and Walkin' on the Spiral.
It comes down to, for me: The pillows' "mediocre" = most other bands' "great", in terms of enjoyment.

As good as the pillows are, their music has barely developed when you compare it to other bands who continuously evolve. I suppose My Foot was a bit different, but sometimes it seems like it has the exact same sounds as previous albums.

^ "no evolution"?!?!?!? you ever fucking listened to kool spice? living field? moon gold? ANY of their old stuff? tell you what. listen to this playlist. i call it the "good burn mix" simply because it covers their whole career (practically) and showcases most of their styles:
1 - want to sleep for... (moon gold)
2 - ki ni shitenai yo (white incarnation)
3 - koi no Spy ni ki wo tsukero! (kool spice)
4 - daydream wonder (living field)
5 - stalker (please mr. lostman)
6 - swanky street (please mr. lostman)
7 - hybrid rainbow (little busters)
8 - blues drive monster (little busters)
9 - little busters (little busters)
10 - rush (happy bivouac)
11 - carnival (happy bivouac)
12 - funny bunny (happy bivouac)
13 - paper triangle (runners high)
14 - fool on the planet (fool on the planet)
15 - smile (smile)
16 - shiroi natsu to midori no jitensha, akai kami to kuroi GITAA (thank you, my twilight)
17 - i know you (penalty life)
18 - bokura no HAREE suisei (turn back)
19 - sono mirai wa ima (good dreams)
20 - gazelle city (my foot)
i put the albums just in case you weren't sure where to look for these amazing songs. cause it sounds like you know jack shit about the pillows's evolution as a band.

Yeah, it's a definite improvement over the last two, but the production really weakens it. The songs sounded great live.

I agree with the both of you. MY FOOT was a really strong album. I really felt that it was better than GD and PL. Don't get me wrong, those albums were great too but I like the direction that MY FOOT is going in.
Hearing the sound check for MY FOOT's bass line was awesome. I was in line outside Slims and I rememeber is as if it were yesterday. Too bad they didn't play Sayonara Universe live.
^
Ok, you're right about their work from 90-96, but for the last ten years, their music has undergone the change some bands go through in 2 albums.

I disagree. While they've kept the same genre after '96, they definitely have changed musically. Each album has had different elements that set it apart. Runners High had elements of grunge, Smile was very indie-sounding (in my opinion, I just don't know how to describe it, that's what comes to mind), TYMT had synths all over the place... it goes on.
