I'm a little curious as to where Propose's lyrics were stolen from.

He's probably referring to them being generic, obviously.

if by "generic" he means "kind of random and completely strange," then he needs to check a dictionary for "generic" and see what it says. Because the lyrics are more just a jumble of random shit without any blatant meaning except at the choruses.

I don't know why you're still here, clouds. I find it really interesting that you seem to associate yourself with Keikaku almost like you're on some "team":
I think we're too late. Received any longwinded emails lately, keikaku?

It's not "us vs. them", it's a music forum. Seriously.

HEY CLOUDS. I wasn't trying to start anything. It was just something more I wanted to know. It was only my opinion, I wasn't speaking on anyone else's behalf but my own. I only posted it here because I wanted others to have a little more insight as well. It's just a personal thing that I really like this album. Fucking shoot me. If the keikaku staff would be so kind as to read the section of this thread where we discussed the songs when the album was released, then maybe they'd be happy to know that the reactions were fairly mixed, some likes, some flat out dislikes, and a healthy number of people who think it's ok, not terrible, not awesome. Trying to peg me as "IM's NERDRAGE RESPONSE" is detestable. I put all the respect I had into that email, as it was genuinely mine.

Sometimes I'm in the mood for LF, sometimes LB or PML, sometimes WU3. I don't really dig RH, HB, TYMT. WI is my favorite of their early works. Opinions. All it is, all it ever was. Maybe some of these match up with the keikaku staff? Maybe some of them don't? I don't give a shit, as it's not the point. I wasn't aware there was a beef between these two communities. I really wish that the over generalization of everyone on both parties would stop. It's just ignorant.

1. I don't think Keikaku is crawling with elitist assholes
2. I don't think IM is OMG PIROUZU KAWAII SUGOI :D haet keikaku meanies >:[

Just... stop. Since you fucking linked them to this thread, I want them to know it's alright. I wasn't irate, angry, etc. I absolutely will not accept an "overzealous fanboy" label. It mustn't be true, as I haven't been so warm to a slew of songs that many on here adore. I just wanted Justin to know that I was not happy with how the review was presented. This was never intended to be some great accomplishment of nerddom.

So lame, clouds.

In regards to the crowds, I haven't noticed that personally, but I don't think it's as big of a deal as many make it out to be. At the New York Knitting Factory show, it was a very wide sampling of fans, young and old, black, hispanic, asian, and white. I was not in the front of the crowd, so back with the standers, I didn't see any frothing animus. Regardless, I've never seen the point in acting like they are a detriment to the fanbase. Would it not make more sense to just discount them, as opposed to treating them like negative points? If they aren't the MAIN fanbase, then they simply aren't, correct? So what is the purpose behind lumping them all together to accrue and gauge the total value of the MAIN fanbase?

Someone can quote this and post it over there if they'd like. I'm speaking for me, always have, always will.

I'm a member of keikaku as well? Is there a problem with that? I was actually wondering why i was still here myself, and I couldn't answer it concretely. I mean, it's not the same place it was 3 years ago. Neither are the pillows the same. But I'm still here! Anyway, it doesn't really matter.

In reply to the review I couldn't resist viewing anymore:

What? The pillows have no passion? No authenticity? No energy? Listen to "LIVING FIELD" and tell me they have none of those qualties. He says the pillows sing about the same thing. What?! Each song has it's own meaning, maybe the same message, but seriously. He compares MY FOOT to Scarecrow. How could he? What a load of bullshit, to me, anyway.

He wasn't talking about Living Field, you [self-moderated for name-calling].

Living Field seems like one of the less energetic and less passionate albums the pillows have put out. I don't really know how an album qualifies as "authentic," though.

You'll just have to trust me when I say this guy knows Japanese very well. Likely more than you.

And I know you can't possibly be serious saying "music only has so many things you can sing about."

If you can't even be sure if he knows more than Mare, I doubt you can knowingly state that he knows Japanese "very well." No offense to Mare, as the small amount of time he has spent on the language has resulted in large strides of progress, but if I were to say somebody knows a language "very well," I would think that he knows it just as well as a native, or better.

And while music has several diverse lyrical themes, they are generally spread out over genres. Songs within the same genre often derive their lyrics from a limited number of topics.

Ha, you're right, that doesn't make sense. What I meant to say was that this guy is practically fluent.

Many of the Keikaku stuff live in or have lived in Japan, so I'd tend to take their word for it when it comes to lyrics-related stuff since they do seem to be practically fluent.

The Keikaku boards would be just fine were it not for a few banned IM members who still insist on making trouble.

What I meant by there being only so many things you can sing about is that any song is going to get lumped under a rather general area, though you can approach that general topic from an infinite number of ways, which is what the pillows do: approach the same general ideas over and over again from different angles and with a different sound.

Also, I'm aware that many keikaku members speak Japanese FAR better than I, but saying that lyrics like those of Propose are "stolen" is rather ridiculous, especially when they're so random.
