I understand it, but I wouldn't show a friend the video just to say "check this out bro! This is an amazing live performance!" I would have gone with the Bubbletown's Hybrid Rainbow live or Another Morning. Basically anything from that live

Re: pillows videos on Youtube
The best lives of Strange Chameleon are the older ones from the 90s. There are a couple songs where Sawao shouts at the end and it works. But Strange Chameleon isn't one of them.

Guys you're bumming the shit out of me.. I still find it remarkable that Sawao continues to try to show some level of passion in lives.
passion in lives.
Why do we use this word, "live" like this? We are not speaking Japanese, this is an English forum. If we were, we would be saying "RAIBU" (can't type Katakana now), not "live." But since we are English speakers, we should probably use the word "gig" or "show" or "concert" or "performance." There is no difference in meaning between a "RAIBU" and a "show." We don't say "Princess Mononoke is one of my favorite animated eigas" or "That sushi restaurant makes some of the best tabemono (food) I've ever had" unless you're in first-year high school Japanese and you're trying to look savvy and failing.

Re: pillows videos on Youtube
itt someone points out the other superfluous bullshit we say like PV, OVA, OAV, or even anime.
Face it, you're on a niche forum about a niche group that use niche lingo to describe its niche interests. If it really bothers you that much, going off topic in a thread to complain about it is highly unlikely to change anyone's behavior. You understood lives as being short for live performances, so what's the deal?

Did you just imply that the phrases "a live concert" or "that was a great live performance" are exclusive to the Japanese language? I'm assuming that I must be retarded and not reading what you said correctly.

Except for the fact that "live" is an English word. So even if it is grammatically incorrect to use in this way, he is technically still speaking English. Not exactly the same thing as throwing "tabemono" or "eiga" into an English sentence. But back on topic... Check out Shin's kakkoii mohawk kami in this Kenzi live. It's totally sugoi, folks. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gZHBURHyFYI

Re: pillows videos on Youtube
I guess I'm somewhat of a hypocrite because I say "PV" instead of "music video" when it comes to Japanese bands, but that's mainly for brevity. People use "live" as a noun, indicating a concert, because the Japanese noun "RAIBU" exists. No English speaker actually calls non-Japanese bands' shows "lives."
</pedantry>
