This is unfortunate. The site says they're sold out now. I didn't buy them a few days ago, when they were still in stock, because I wasn't sure if I'd be able to go.
Is there any possible way to still get in without the insanely priced badges? It seems like the amount of tickets available for each individual performance fluctuates from some to none, depending how many wristband and badge holders attend... so I'm wondering how many times the pillows will perform and how good my odds would be if I showed up early and waited around a while.
If anyone's got any info please do share it. ;_;

people living in austin will be able to buy wristbands mid-february. and i believe flyp was hinting that he'd be willing to help people get them.
the pillows will probably perform as part of japan night- a showcase of japanese bands. so if they played first, you might not get in on time without a badge or wristband, but if they play later in the night, it seems like you'd have a good chance since people will probably be going in and out.

I know I've said this before but you can also get individual tickets the day of the show at certain venues. You just have to get to the venue early enough to get one. This was confirmed to me by an email from the SXSW staff.

Does this mean that I would be able to buy a ticket to a show before people with badges and wristbands get there and basically get a guaranteed spot just by showing up really early? If so, then my hope has been completely renewed.

Damn, I was waiting on my cousin for half of the money, and she never came through.
Thats a good point Mellie, but I can't risk all that money and time, so that I can MAYBE get in.
Hopefully a trip to California is in the near future.

read flyp's post again (the very first post).
the people with badges are from the music industry. they are the people who will get the word out or sign a band. therefore they have priority no matter what.

if you just go with nothing is there any chance of getting in at the door if you go like 5 hours befor the show and stand there?

i heard that you can buy a ticket to the venue. cuz lots of venues in austin are part-taking. but the problem with that is that those with the wristbands are getting in first. they have priority over those with out on. so you might not get in if there's tons of people with the wristband...

Woops, sorry. I usually try to avoid asking stupid questions. At the moment rational thought gave way to excitement...
Now I'm considering going and just trying to get into the Japan showcase. I'd definitely be willing to wait outside the venue for several hours. But it would be a huge waste of money if the place got full really quick.

This is weird. I can't find The Pillows anywhere on the SXSW band search page. I found NOODLES and a few other Japanese bands but no pillows. This page may not be finished yet so they may be yet to be added all though it looks pretty complete. Hopefully they will add them to the list soon. As of today though, they are not there.
Never mind, last years listings.
Friday, March 19 Caribbean Lights ( 614 E 6th St) (21+) Japan Nite ROMZ record CREW 8:00 p.m. The Emeralds 9:00 p.m. Response 10:00 p.m. Fuzzy Control 11:00 p.m. ZANZO 12:00 a.m. Kishidan 1:00 a.m.
I had no idea that KISHIDAN were gonna be there. That's a band that I want to see almost as much as the pillows.
Everything is 21+, though...
Japan Girls Nite is 21+, too... =_=
At this rate I will be surprised if the pillows' showcase isn't 21+.

Do do realize that those are lineups/schedules for LAST year's SXSW, right?

Quiet, you.
Well, the age restrictions are still extremely discouraging, even if it is last year's listings.
I guess there's still hope, though.
