dude. listen to some of their live songs. not busters on the planet, but a different one of hybrid rainbow. you can hear the emotion in sawao's voice.
Sorry for the double post, but I didn't want to tack this on to the lyrics to Word of Mouth....
Yeah, Hybrid Rainbow is pretty emotional.
But have you heard the tribute cover version? Bump Of Chicken does a version on the synchronized Rockers album that puts a lump in my throat and tears on my face every time. EVERY time.

well, it wouldnt make sense if the cover version is better than the original..(although pillows did a pretty good job on Fakin' It)
and B.O.C is like that, mellow..like "Arue". might be just the vocalist (the music on the B.O.C was nice ..)
oi.. hope this doesn't go on like the last thread of synchronized rockers.. >.<

I don't know that it's better; it's really very different.....mostly an acoustic solo but with some heavily instrumented swells. And the guitar hook is buried until halfway through.
But it's deliberately intended, I think, to exploit the emotional content. And it does so VERY effectively. It's much "sweeter" than the original. It's like a female version, almost.....
Actually, I think what gets me is not that the song itself is so emo- it's that the person doing the tribute cover so obviously loves that song that the TRIBUTE is emotional.
For me it's a big deal. That song started EVERYTHING for me- it hooked me on FLCL, on The Pillows, on Manabe, on Anime...I wanted to play it so bad I started taking guitar lessons, after already being a guitarist for 40 years. And then they put the extra sections in the concert DVD where they all showed how each part is played in detail- it was like they did that just for ME!
BOC obviously loves the song- and I guess that's why their cover gets to me. I wish *I* had done that cover.....

Don't ur friends think that ur crazy to be listening to Japanese music in the first place? posting at a forum that the band doesnt even look at once in a while?
[edit] is it crazy to think that Sawao is really hott? (imagining that he's 20 years younger, of course.) i mean..good looking (for a japanese guy), musically talented and leader of a band, talented artistically, generous, good sense of humor, emo voice/playing. ??
