actually yeah. myspace is for more than juveniles it's for people who like to explore music and find out about what's going on locally and with bands they know, that's why most local shows link myspaces for their announcements on their venue's myspace. Local shows form a fanbase, and a fans bring more people to your shows expanding your fanbase. And loyal fans support you.

professionals might be better for critical analysis of your music. The fact that critical analysis is bullshit imo aside, that does not contribute to your band's success. your music may be solid and polished but professional support does not build a relationship between the band and it's fans that's essential to the success of a band. Myspace does support this relationship.

Furthermore, myspace is essential to getting shows, and getting shows helps you create connections, real connections not internet connections. if you play out often and talk with people around the industry you will open doors to move your band up the ladder. And with the support of an already strong fanbase you can build upon it and that will create more longevity to your music.

Having a relationship with fans is what makes people feel connected to your music, and fans that feel connected to your music will show their friends your music and that will make their friends connected to your music. soundcloud doesn't help you build that relationship but myspace does. Success that lacks that support is just stilted and a strong breeze will knock it down.
