Oh god Mare, the lead on Moon Marguerite is amazing.

And shame on you, those who have been dissing Sawao's vocals. He's beast.
These are both things I've been saying for some time. ;D
I've been quiet on the subject of Sawao's vocals since I don't really listen to live versions too often (he also has a goofy voice.) But I've always liked Moon Marguerite, except for the intro on the studio.

All I can say about this DVD is....HOLY SHIT AMAZING!

Moon Marguerite was incredible, I loved it.

Also, Kimi to boku to otsukisama was outstanding. I loved the original and the turn back ver. but this has to be my favorite on the dvd.

Beehive was funny as hell :D

And Sayonara Universe was perfect.

All I have to say now is goodnight!

Finally getting around to listening to the songs, thanks to Goshin's amazing link. Most of all, I'm blown away by Ameagari ni mita maboroshi, it sounds amazing without the crappy youtube fuzz. Right now, I'm listening to Skim Heaven, which is interesting. To this point, the best are the above and Sayonara Universe.

One thing I've noticed, though- Sawao is on top of his game vocally in a lot of these, but there are a few where you can't hear his singing very well. It's not too big of a deal though. This is some good stuff.

Ameagari is pretty darn easy to play as well...it's in G, and uses a lot of the same chords as Wonderwall, especially in the chorus.

I just fell in love with the pillows all over again

Seriously, all the older acoustics hold a special place in my heart, since I love acoustic versions of pillows songs more than the originals a lot of the time. I dunno why, there's just something so special about them. These mp3s are a dream come true.

Favorites-

Sayonara Universe: Simly amazing, this is the way the song should have been done originally.

Chelsea Hotel: Wonderful song, I wonder why Sawao didn't release it sooner

Monster C.C.: Great new take on this song, even a little more somber than the original, which is a good thing.

One Life: Astoundingly beautiful, however, like I was telling GR, I really wish it'd been done a little differently. I think it would have been much better had it been done the opposite way Black Sheep [White Version] was done. Essentially White Version made Black Sheep into an upbeat and happier song than the tragic and sad original, in the same way I think this version of One Life should have made the determined original into a more slow and sad song.

Lesser Hamster- Proof that Sawao still has it.

Kimi to Boku Otsukisama- Oh my god, this is beautiful beyond words. I can't begin to describe just how great it is.

I really love the use of the theremin in all these songs, it's such a unique instrument, and somehow it adds a whole new element to the more somber and personal versions of these songs.

I wish they would have done the original intro for kimi to boku instead of using the theremin, actually. I just don't like its tone as much as I like guitars.

Also, I disagree with One Life...to make it more sad and less determined would be to undermine what the song is about.

I understand where you're coming from, but I don't think it would undermine the song at all. For instance, the upbeat White Version of Black Sheep eliminated the quiet and sad hopelessness of the original, yet it kept the same overall meaning of the song the same and didn't detract so much as it made it different.

About the theremin in Sayonara Universe; it was awesome in the beginning but around the solo section and beyond it started to stand out too much for me. The lines she was playing seemed a little off target near the end, it just wasn't meshing for me. It was great in Plastic Flower and Monster C.C., probably in more songs too.

But, in general about Sayonara Universe... I really, really want it to be the bees knees, but it just isn't. I mean, he flaps on "sayonara" ffs, "SAI-YO-NA-RAHLAAA", and the whole vocal melody is a thin line teetering between dramatic and noisy... I'd prefer if it were sung more sweetly. Needed special guest vocalist here... preferably a woman. That song is not Sawao's bag. :(

Opinions are like assholes, etc, but I can't be the only one who smells this shit. To Sawao's credit, yes, the vocals are very nice on a good chunk of these performances.

This DVD is awesome
Seriously, it's too god for words.

This DVD's MVP is [IMO] Jun Suzuki. The way he was playing that upright bass was too awesome, the show wouldn't have been as epic without him.

Sayonara Universe is my favorite song out of My Foot, so I was very impressed with how it sounded.

One Life was epic. I love how the camera zooms in and out of focus on Sawao and the other members during One Life.

The rest of the set was amazing, this DVD is a classic.

But what really impressed me was Paper Triangle. I was mindblown, that drumstick thing is so cool.
