he meant like why would this thread be made, it shows some hatred against the pillows.
if you truly, truly love something, then you have to have the heart to tell them the truth and say... honey, that album was just one big mistake. don't do it again.

what turns me off about the old stuff is that sawao just can't sing. i'll certainly concede that the songs themselves aren't total crap, as the remakes prove, but... i just don't want to listen to that stuff.
yeah his singing was definently undeveloped at the start. But he got better, in fact I really dig his matured singing among other singers today.

Noooo. Sawao was a good singer back then, too. The vocals on Razorlike Blue are great. In fact, the vocals on Pantomime are pretty awesome overall. He sang with a different tone back then, and they didn't touch up his vocal track as much as they obviously do now, so it sounds a little less refined.

yeah he was not bad but, he definently improved from one album to the next. I mean he sounded a lot better on living feild than he did on pantomine. and so on so forth.

He also sounds better on Living Field than on Good Dreams and the like.

I love you.

Everytime I joke about the pillows sucking, I get immense hatred thrown at me. But that joking is half serious. Of course, the early works kinda prove that with Sawao's vocals being under-deveolped. It obviously takes a true fan to criticize a band's works.

Really? I don't know, I think he has more diversity in his voice in Good Dreams than he did then on Living Feild. Tracks like Frontiers, xavier and Good Dreams he really shines on.

I dunno... Sawao's voice on the early albums was pretty rough, but I don't really like the nasally multi-track voice he uses on the newer albums either. I think his best vocals were on Living Field and Please Mr. Lostman.

I think he has been great up until Penalty Life and Good Dreams, and even both of those albums have some great vocal tracks.

I think Sawao's voice is a little off on White Incarnation, an album I love. Especially on the songs, Yoake ga Yattekita and Tonight, his voice seems to be straining at parts and not fully matured. His voice almost sounds, dare I say "cute". Still a great album and Sawao had decent enough vocals. It just took some getting used to. It's also one of the best showcases of Manabe's guitar playing.

Oh, and I agree with busterken as well. I find manabe's best is in the early works up through please mr. lostman, around 97. Kenji represents some of the best bass work on any of the albums in white incarnation, and sato is tops as well.

So, we're discussing Sawao's voice, eh?

Well, here's proof that Sawao's CURRENT voice is awesome: Listen to the the first two lines of the Turn Back (new) Liberty --

KYANPASU ni hirogaru shiroi sora
Mugen no shikakui mado wo aketara

Oh my god, that has gotta be the coolest use of his voice. Ever.
Take Green Day for example: Kerplunk is one of their earliest albums is rocking, great and dirty because its lower production value. But obviously American Idiot, is a better album because over time they became a better band.
 Green Day hella sucks.
