Not to sound like I'm bashing it, but it sounds like a mix of TYMT and GD(as whole albums.)

Yeah, and it doesn't sound too original or new.
The three songs on Nonfiction sounded nothing alike, and the Third Eye doesn't sound like anything on Nonfiction, so I don't know on what you could be basing the conclusion that all of their new stuff sounds the same.
The third eye's chorus and nonfiction's chorus are like exactly the same.

Honestly, i think some of you will never like anything new by the pillows, even if it is great. Its the same reasons too. Now i know some of your opinions really are that you don't like the new stuff, but some of you guys need to get off the bandwagon already, your not cool just cause you agree with clouds or culen.

If you're talking about me, I'm punching you in the face.
And I'm not saying they use the same changes and stuff, but the feel of nonfiction and the third eye are very similar. Too similar. Starts out with a quirky sounding intro, then a rather slow verse, then an 1/8th note strummed semi-energetic chorus. It's like the new music has a formula.

I didn't say I dislike it. I just said it wasn't new or original.

Agreed. It's fine to prefer Living Field over some of the new albums, but putting the pillows' older stuff as THE GOLDEN STANDARD is ridiculous. I'd like to hear from some of the naysayers what they think the pillows should do to become "more original". It's easy to say "it's not original", but what exactly do you MEAN by that?

We haven't heard the whole song, so how can you be sure how it starts? Besides, using a "quirky" guitar riff isn't exactly a way to categorize songs, as most rock starts out with a guitar or bass riff somewhere at the beginning. The riff is about as far as the similarities go.

Quit shoving your excessive knowledge of musical theory down our eyes.

Nothing that I said had hardly any theory to do with it.
And Jim, the demo started out that way. I'm under the assumption that the song will start out that way, because it's rock. If i'm right, then that's Steve: 1, Jim: 0.

It is the manner that you type your posts that implies that you are basing it on what you know about music theory.

Thanks, Joyeuse, for the download link, but you named the file as "nonfictionsample" xD!
And guyz. Of course it's really hard to be MORE original than they already are. The important is that they're always changing and my opinion is that this new style they're coming in is really more like other japanese bands. He sings really motivated in most of the songs, (It's just like the songs where he shouts like nuts lose their impact). And Third Eye, like Heart is There sounds like anime songs for me.
But still they're being good enough for me to aprove
