It happens. I found that the album was really cohesive, and I loved seven songs and liked the rest.

EDIT: It made 14 for the week on oricon.

After listening to the album at least 2 times my favorite songs so far is Propose, Serious Plan, and Century Creepers. BTW is it just me or does the guitar work during the verse of Century Creepers kinda sound like Asian Kung-Fu Generation.
Orly? I had the impression that it sounded like the pillows.
The solo of Century Creepers definitely sounds like Asian Kung-Fu Generation. No doubt.

Yeah, I don't get the "Century Creepers"/"March of the God" comparisons. Enlighten me.

There's like, a certain familiar sounding note that is somewhat reminiscent. It's during the verses of CC, and in the "yes more light" part of MOTG. That's about it, though.

Also, I really like the length of Sweet Baggy Days, it sounds like a romantic love song with the past during the verses. Not just the vocal melody, but the guitars are singing as well.

I'm gonna have to say Skinny Blues is my least favorite here, as Serious Plan has come back into my favor with it's easy goingness and mocking chorus. Skinny Blues is a bit too straight-forward for me. In any event, I'm beyond pleased with the latest effort.

The album came today, as well. I didn't really like the cover art too much at first, but now that I've seen the art inside the pages, I'm very happy with it. I didn't notice at first, but when I opened the box, I saw that each family member had their eyes closed. Great silliness awaits inside. ^_^

Ya, but what's got me down is the lack of anything on the inside to the end-cap thing. Insignificant as it is I kinda look forward to the little surprise picture or whatever that's usually there, and finding it blank was pretty disappointing.

I just got the album today as well (and listened to it for the first time) - it's definitely growing on me, and I'm sure will continue to, but I keep internally comparing it to the sparta locals' latest effort, まぼろしforever, which I liked on the first listen to and just continue to love more and more. Craps those guys are good.

I was reading a bit of their blog site earlier, and Abe Kousei talks about how buying a new comic and then sitting down with a cup of coffee and reading it for hours is what makes him happy. That man is awesome.

Okay...so I just listened to the album...and I feel like i should rip my uterus out, to ease the pain.

So far, this album is weak. Its so blah. I don't like any of the first 7 songs. That's already more than 50% of the album.

I'm praying that the last three songs are gold.

I'm liking Skinny blues though.

Private Kingdom -> Century Creepers -> Sweet Baggy Days

Yeah I'm gonna say that's the best part of the album, so congrats, your prayers are answered.

So, after many listens of the album, I've decided to review it!

WARNING: OPINIONS MAY CHANGE OVER TIME

Wake up! dodo; 9.5/10- I freakin' love this song. It's so freakin' great and upbeat. One of the best songs on the album. And Sawao's vocals are really good. Great start to the album.

YOUNGSTER; 8.5/10- A fun, little song. Kinda has a punky feel to it. Also upbeat.

Propose; 8/10- One of the only, little dissapointments of the album. I was really anticipating for it to be just as good as the live version. Would've gotten a 7.5, but, there's a great solo.

Scarecrow; 10/10- I love this song. LOVE LOVE LOVE IT. Sawao's vocals are again, really good, and a great solo. I'm lovin' it! =D

BOAT HOUSE; 10/10- Another wonderful song. A really good, nice, laid-back kinda song.

The Pleasure Song; 10/10- Another high-light of the album. Everything about the song is great. The chorus, the solo everything.

Serious Plan; 8.5/10- It's an okay song. I love the whistling, and I don't get why everybody thinks it's out of place.

Skinny Blues; 9/10- It's a pretty good song. The chorus is great. Pretty up-beat.

Private Kingdom; 9.5/10- Kinda different. Very interesting. All I have to say about, so far.

Century Creepers; 10.5/10- Better than better. Best song on the album, hands down. GREAT VOCALS. But, TOO SHORT! C'mon, Sawao!

Sweet Baggy Days; 10/10- Astounding finish. Very beautiful chorus.

Overall; 9.5/10. A wonderful album. I would put it among the likes of Smile and Thank you, my twilight. Great stuff, Sawao. =D

I gotta say, 80% of the lead in Sweet Baggy Days was worthless. Liked the song, but Manabe was just very meh on it.
