From what he told me, it sounded like a pipe dream of his. He had apparently just gotten the chance to sit down and really talk with the pilows earlier that day. He seemed legit otherwise because he was working with the Japanese staff and seemed to know some random facts. I think he's at the point where maybe the bands have agreed, but not the label or a major venue.

Should we contact him? Should we also get him to reconsider other bands or perhaps on when to do it?

This man should bring something like [size=50]Mass of the Fermenting Dregs[/size] or Boris or Pop Chocolat, I know the first two already have a strong following in US

I think what he needs is for more people to show interest. He wants to use the pillows as the hook, but I'd say definitely post on the Samurai Nite wall with suggestions and stuff. If I get to talk to him again, I'll try to steer him towards more bands with pull here. I figure that's the most appropriate way, maybe even pointing fans of the bands you mentioned to that page to throw it out there.

FWIW, I'm not really sure if Mass are in a touring state right now. Their lead guitar player just left due to anxiety attacks which affected her performance. Not really sure what state that band is in...Also, they came to Canada last year, dunno if they'd want to make a NA trip again so soon. I'd love it though!

Also, I think Boris is too much of a big bill to do a little Japanese band variety show. They headline at big locations now. D:

Also, why Texas? Sure, with SXSW they're able to get a good crowd for Japan Nite, but I'm pretty sure NYC, LA, or SF would all be more likely to get good turnouts for Japanese bands than goddamn Austin, TX.

I was told by both guys that Sawao and co just love Austin for some reason. Then Sawao got onstage and talked about how it's his favorite and that he played his first US show there. On the other hand, Austin is fucking huge for music. There's another music festival that they do that's not related to SXSW and there's live music everywhere.

Also, the guy talking about trying to get this all set up seems like the type of person who just loves Austin himself. He mentioned wanting to have it as a kind of tour, but he only specifically mentioned Dallas.

I'm friends with him on facebook. Really nice guy. He saw the pillows in Japan earlier this year as well... I think he has a video recap of that as well, from his apartment in Nippon.

XD Actually I think I prefer that, it was pretty awesome seeing them live for the first time... Also, anyone know that site that has all the pillows' setlists?
