THAT'S ALTANATIVE POP! OH REAH!

I like it, it's a pretty mellow song. I wonder what made Sawao decide to use this song (and the others) for this CD instead of a pillows record. Nice seeing Jun and Yoko on there, who's the drummer though? Is that Shinpei, or the guy from Ellegarden? And you know, maybe it's wishful thinking, but since this last tour was so tiny, and Sawao really wants to play America more, maybe he'll do a short solo tour here... That would be so awesome. :shred:

I really like this one. I'm loving that Sawao brought back the Thineline, even if it's not the same red ESP he was rocking in thier early days. I'm also digging that he's doing vocals and whipping out an awesome Solo too. The backing vocals by the female guitarist really help set it apart from a typical Pillows track as well.

Post Re: Sawao Yamanaka solo album - Discharge - 6/23/2010
The intro was nice. That's about all I liked. I stopped listening after the solo, but still had it playing in another tab. I'm assuming it went chorus, chorus, outro? I doubt I missed anything interesting.

Sawao's voice is too low pitched, and he still sounds like a robot, making the song dull and boring. I feel like taking a nap now. Perhaps that was the point? ...Nah. And it's another English song? It makes me wonder why I'm even listening to a Japanese artist.

Overall, it was about what I expected. I was hoping to be pleasantly surprised, I don't like being this pessimistic about one of my favorite musicians.

Edit: I agree that having Yoko on backup vocals was a good choice, hopefully she will be in other songs. On the solo, I was bothered with the part around 3:14. Sounds kinda sloppy to me. As a whole, the solo wasn't bad, but not great.

IMO, of course.

Wow, Sawao and Yoko on the same on the same track? The last time this happened was in Back Seat Dog, yeah? Pretty cute.

But yeah, he really does need to work on his English enunciation. I almost feel like it's gotten worse.

I don't really make a distinction. I mean, obviously most of thier songs are in Japanese as opposed to a language i'd understand, but I don't listen to them just because they're Japanese. With the exception of some of our users who understand Japanese, we're essentialy listning to someone speak jibberish, even if we can pick out a few words just from hearing to it so often. What makes Sawao's singing 'special' is still there for me wether he's speaking Engrish or Japanese.

I'm with Brye, wanna hear Biscuit Hammer live.

Dawn Speech wasn't bad at all. I'd much, much prefer Discharge to be some mellow and experimental and whatever stuff, instead of pillows and Predators-rejected straight-up rock crap. And I speak enough Japanese that I can dissect some lyrics - and actively discern basically all the words being said, whether or not I know the meaning. Not that it bothers me, but I'll at least offer the counter-opinion that I can dissect between "Japanese" and "gibberish".

Since the solo had the same tone as the earlier guitar parts that it was making it look like Yoko was playing, I'm just gonna assume that Sawao recorded both guitar parts himself. Because, the fuck, if Yoko could make her guitar sound like Junko's, Noodles wouldn't be back to Long Long Chain and earlier form.
