Duders, what the hell? "Epic" is used way too much, I agree.

That sticker is dope, buster is like a marathon runner. Still, I know it was a bonus extra, but I was kinda expecting a small sticker set (3 or 4) as opposed to one sticker. But regardless, I'm looking forward to hearing Good Dreams and Kono yono hate made, plus just about everything else on there.

The only problem with pillows live footage is that they're a band that never changes their songs up...ever...for a live performance. The only exception I know of is that one arpeggiated Hybrid Rainbow intro (which was cool), maybe that one concert where they played some oldies (we don't have recordings, so we don't know what style it took on).

They're gonna play it exactly as it appeared on the album, all the time, every time. Is it too much to ask for such a long running band to sort of let loose, do some improvisation, jam around, extend the solos, change the arrangement, fancy intros...Sorry, again, sorry, if it seems like I'm griping. I'm really not. I'm just thinking it'd be kinda nice if they changed it up a bit. Because I can almost guarantee you - the footage of Kono Yono Hate Made is gonna be extremely familiar. Maybe with different hair and guitars. But extremely familiar.

Wanna watch it anyways.

Actually, I'd like to see a long version of pari no jyosei marii.

I do admit, there wasn't a lot of change going on in the songs as GR pointed out, but with the inclusions of the older songs, there are big differences to the sound, especially Girlfriend. Compare it to that live version from around the time of its release that just popped up on Youtube a month or so ago. They actually did kind of jam just a little bit at the end of Akani Tobira no Mae de, they spiced it up from the original. And hearing an actual guitar solo on Purple Apple was awesome too.

I've accepted that while the pillows are a really good band... their talents lie mostly in their ability to compose and perform... improvisation doesn't seem to be the aim of the band. I've only seen small snippets of any type of variation in their lives compared to studio versions, so it's pretty obvious that they be changing it up anytime soon. It does suck, to some degree, and I see where GR is coming from. Sawao seems to be stuck on that "pop song" formula he's been using for the past twenty years, and that translates to most of the live performances as well.

It would be awesome if they wrote something in Sonata Allegro form!

Still, their lives are good, variation or no. They put on good shows, and put forth some nice energy. The DVDs worth it, it'll be good. I mean look at the Wake Up! Stand Up! And Go! DVD. It's full of live performances that are for the most part faithful to their original sources... and it's still magnificent footage.

Either way, I prefer this DVD more than a cure for AIDS. I mean, it's their 20th Anniversary!

But that's just me.
