I think both sides are in the wrong. the pillows don't suck now because they rip off the beatles, they suck now because they're putting out really uninteresting, boring music.

Should this thread seriously be locked or something? It's getting absolutely ridiculous besides me quoting other people.

I've lurked here for quite a few years now, but threads like this are what keep me from posting all that often. The anonymity of message boards leads people to be dicks without realizing it (or maybe they do, i dunno).
Anyway, uh, I'm looking forward to the song...

It's not all message boards, it's just this one.
There are a few a few forums that are bad, a few that are actually like communities...it's just people that have negative opinions on the subjects at hand, which is fine, but they don't have to spout out their opinions to a group of people who obviously disagree, just to intice them.
As to keep on topic, I liked the song, and I love when Sawao references the Beatles, because they're another one of my favorite bands...
PS, for those who say the pillows put out boring music, please do PM a song or songs you wrote that surpasses the boredom of the pillows. I'm sure since your musical abilities and opinions are so highly thought upon by yourselves, you must obviously have at least a BIT of skill on which to base it. Kthnxbai

Sorry, sonic, if you mean me and Mare.
But the thing is, I generally only post like that in response to equally idiotic provocation.
Sawao "rips off" The Beatles?
Please. That barely even deserves discussion.

It's no one in particular. Threads just seem to get angry / standoffish / etc a lot of the time.

The truth: Sawao wears his influences on his sleeve, and there is absolutely nothing with that! Just by hearing the 30-seconds given to us at the moment I know that it's going to be a kickass song.

Sometimes I forget to apply the e-brake.

Unrelated, but I like the continuity from My Foot to Wake Up!. Play them from start to finish in order. I like how Gazelle City ends My Foot, but not quite, like a sort of "stay-tuned for more" ending. Then the sound effects come in on Wake Up! dodo... In more or less words, it's a very good transition. It seems to me like the fantastic My Foot (song) sets up the theme not only for My Foot (album), but for Wake Up! as well. Then, Century Creepers comes very much like a climactic event, and Sweet Baggy Days finishes off the whole effort, like the end of the journey; like recalling the journey.
I know that's fairly colorful in description, but I'm simply trying to show that My Foot and Wake Up! are definitely not just songs thown together; that they are, IMO, solid albums. Just like how they have had streams of creativity before with two or three albums complimenting each other, this patch of their career (Which I'd say started with Good Dreams) seems to me to have winded down. The reception for Wake Up! may have been fairly , but I certainly enjoyed it quite a bit. Who knows what's next? The Tokyo Bambi single has me very optimistic.

nice observation you made there mate....i thought about that for a second and you are right, wake up! does really have a continuity feeling from My foot.
and you know i dont understand why the reception for wake up! was so meh....i enjoyed it very much as well...it wasnt like all the songs on the album sounded the same, they were all very unique in their own way. I think the pillows have an uncanny ability to still have music that caters to the modern idea of music, yet still have a very distinct sound that you can tell apart way easy from the next jpop/jrock band (like L'arc en ciel? all of their music sounds the same...)
im curious to hear across the metropolis...sounds like it has alot of promise. I have to admit though that go go jupiter was a tad bit of a let down (the chorus was really quite the killer...) so im putting alot of faith on across the metropolis.

We get it, every album/single/PV/time Sawao breathes, the pillows suck more. Big fucking deal. It's all subjective, and no one cares.
