Here's an obscure one:
When You Were Mine and Sick Vibration.
The beginnings sound very similar. When You Were Mine seems like Sick Vibration stretched out a bit.

Here's one I should have thought of a million years ago, but didn't occur to me until dinner today:
I Want To Live That Way and In Front of a Locked Door.
It was such a duh once I finally thought of it.

They're both good-old-reggae songs. Songs manabe plays whenever he's "shooting the J" or probly tributes to nine miles (a big fat joint project).

Well, they're not really traditional reggae songs. They're both pretty damn sad.

Try playing these in order; Tashikame ni Yukou, Suternji Kamereron, and HYBRID RAINBOW.

Well, it's not completely a pillows song relationship... but the end of Happy Slave sounds almost exactly like the studio version of Led Zeppelin's Over the Hills and Far Away. Kool Spice and Living Field both showed blues influence on a few songs. Maybe Pee was listening to Zeppelin/ other blues artists at the time.
I never though those two songs sounded "sad" at all. In Front of a Locked Door sounds mellow more than anything else, and in terms of mood, I Want To Live That Way sounds more like your average reggae- sippin' margaritas on the beach, that sort of thing.

I don't hear any blues on Living Field, and the closest things to blues on Kool Spice are Naked Shuffle and Toy Doll, and it would be stretching it to call those songs blues.

'Carnival' and 'Xavier'. Manabe uses a very similar lead for the two in the verses.

Nah... Xavier is in the 12 frets. In Canival he plays just G string and in the first frets.
Ok, I could remember of Carnival listening to Xavier.
