Yeah, I've basically stopped reading your posts. Shorten it up, dude. Or at least make shorter paragraphs.

phew, cause if you didn't let it slide, the pillows would of had to call it a mini album.
Its a obvious conclusion that thier earlier stuff is not as good as thier later work. Some bands start off with a bang thier first album being thier best. Then slowly declineing untill thier eventual artistic demise. However some bands (like the pillows) start off some what mediocore and evolve slowly or quickly into a truly great and inspirational rocking band.
Ok, stop. You're sounding like a really really bad rock bio right now. Like, a rock bio written by Charles Cross, or worse, Hitler.

obvious when you dont take other things into account, like, say - the fact that musical tastes are entirely subjective. its obvious to steve that YJM is the greatest musical force in history..

I'd say my current least favorite is probably Moon Gold, but it's been growing on me recently.

True musical tastes are entirely subjective, but you can see obvious diffrences in albums in terms of tightness, compositions, arangements and recordings. Over time Bands get more familliar and comfortable with eachother thus making the creative proccess easier. This is not always true, but true enough.

I think a lot of the songs on their early albums are pretty tight and well-written. There are differences, but these differences don't necessarily mean that one is better than the other objectively. Sure, Good Dreams may have quality production, but I prefer most of the other albums, well-produced or not.

And thats tottally cool.. I love thier early stuff because it shows me how unique they were then and how thier still special today but in a different way. That evoulution is great to see everytime I turn back and listen to something like white incarnation or kool spice.
Take Green Day for example: Kerplunk is one of their earliest albums is rocking, great and dirty because its lower production value. But obviously American Idiot, is a better album because over time they became a better band.

if you truly, truly love something, then you have to have the heart to tell them the truth and say... honey, that album was just one big mistake. don't do it again.
what turns me off about the old stuff is that sawao just can't sing. i'll certainly concede that the songs themselves aren't total crap, as the remakes prove, but... i just don't want to listen to that stuff.
