This contest has pissed me off lately. The cheating, people not taking it seriously, people who have tickets and still enter the contest, the english covers, not actually doing a cover and just make a video for the studio track. WTF!?
I fell bad for the pillows having all these morons enter.

People seem to care more about the video than the cover, but isn't this a cover contest not a video contest?

Well enough bitching I hope mostly IM user will win the contest.

I personally found the person who thought it was a good idea to enter a FLCL AMV hilarious. And I doubt any of them are going to get anywhere in the contest anyway...

I think the 7 billion posts in this thread dedicated to "who's cheating?" theories show that plenty of people are taking it seriously. Oh and wow, some entries suck? No way.

Honestly, just because I have a ticket there doesn't mean I'm perfectly fine with spending $1,000 of my hard
earned money when if I won I would have gone for free. It was worth trying and the experience was all that mattered.
If you think some of them suck sure, but not any of us here on IM, we all did terrific covers, some better than others, but
we all did great

It's easily more than a thousand just for the travel, not to mention hotel, food, and merchandise.

If I win, I'm staying with Brye.

Anyways, yeah, I found a pretty good deal... round trip tickets and 3 days in Green Palace hotel for about $1,400.

But I want to be able to get a lot of merchandise at the same time... even if I got 1,000 thousand, I'd have to provide $400 more for the deal, and then food and merchandise... This could potentially cost a lot more than I can afford.

As I was telling lastdinosaur17, if you really really want to go to Budokan, you'll find a way to pay for it, and you'll find a way to get a ticket, whether it be from a connection in Japan, or Yahoo Japan auctions, or scalping like Terra did at 916.

Winning this thing only gets you one ticket and $1000 closer to seeing the pillows at Budokan. $1000, what, that's not even round trip airfare, is it? You'd still need to come up with cash for, as Mare said, FOOD, and A HOTEL, and other expenditures.

Sure getting in the top 5 would be nice, saving you 1000 and the effort of acquiring a ticket. And your video is shown, cool. But really, if you're ACTUALLY gonna fly to see the pillows in Japan, you've got a lot of other shit to consider.

I've already discussed with my mom. The only way I'm going is if I make top five... otherwise, I'm staying right here (she bought a REFUNDABLE TICKET ). So it's all or nothing for me.

I sent you a PM with all the logistics on it, compare it to your trip and see what needs work and what not.
I'm surprised that food and travel when the hotel is included in the cost of the ROUNDTRIP ticket and the fact
that both me and Tidus are just staying there for 3 days. Travelocity gives you a package where you can recieve 3 night stay at any hotel
which is included in your total cost.
My flight and hotel ticket will cost me $1,273.51
Pretty good for a roundtrip+3 night stay in a hotel
Its almost the same for Tidus

Jesus damn. The only way I'd even buy plane tickets is if I already knew I was going, and there's almost no way you'd be able to find that sort of price on September 3rd. DX
