I'm surprised Movement isn't on the list. I believe we got Mr. Droopy at the last NY show so I hope we get something different.

Re: New US Pillows Tour. (Seattle date confirmed)
Mediocre set list as usual, but I mean considering what they've been playing in Japan recently (I went to a show there two weeks ago) it's probably better than that. The only saving grace is that at Japan shows they have been playing Back Seat Dog, Kono yo no hate made, and Calvero recently. Aside from that, it's pretty boring and their set lists are even shorter than they are here. I got a manabe pick, was happy about that, he remembered me. Someone threw some blue flowers up on the stage and sawao then showed his blue poppy tattoo (e.g.: one life tattoo)
tldr: where the fuck is jun suzuki.
tldr: where the fuck is jun suzuki.
We may never see Jun in America again. If they could not sort out whatever is going on since last year, I don't think we will see Jun.

If he doesn't show for a third time, it's probably safe to assume he got put on the no-fly list for America on accident lol.
The El Rey show was a bit disappointing, not the pillows though they were incredible as always. The venues sound was not good! Sawao's vocals were mixed way to low, the overall sound was very loud and sounded a bit distorted.
Yeah, it seemed like the output on the microphones was not high enough throughout the whole thing, or the speakers were not well situated for those of us in the front... I thought it was due to my earplugs at first but I had them out for the pillows, and the vocals were still difficult to hear during the songs.
Haha, looks like the All Ages bassist lost his pants too in SF. Not sure if anybody already mentioned, but at the El Rey he actually let an audience member pretend to play his bass, and then jumped down into the crowd afterward.
Ack, that's what I meant to do... get some blue flowers for Sawao. Next time, next time.

Back in 2008 they played at El Rey the same problem, but after the first song Sawao got them to fix it. This time though I don't know why he did not say anything. But the sound was fine back then. This year the guy mixing really messed up, the music was clipping a bit, and the vocals were way to low.

I'm pretty sure he is on it.
So why exactly is he on the TSA no fly list then?
This is completely unrelated, did you record footage at one of the shows last year? Your name looks familiar, think I saw it on youtube... Also, Sawao speaking Engrish... Lol... "This one is your favorite..." I guessed what that was before he said it...
the noodles were cool, but I had a hard time hearing the vocals and bassist energy seemed rather low..
The entire sound mixing was screwed up. I was upfront and center and we started shouting at the sound mixer to turn up the mix and lower the guitar, but to no avail. Same problem pegged pillows when they were playing, albeit it was a bit better because Sawao actually projected himself whereas Yoko didn't, haha. But yeah, instruments were definitely cranked up too high and the mics weren't.

Slims has a crappy sound system, nothing new here. You can never hear the vocals and they never wise up enough to lower guitar and raise vocals.

This 3 hour time difference between the west coast and NY is a lot longer when you're actually waiting for something (ie, pillows concert writeups).
I think She, Her was the only pre-Ivy song Noodles played. Though I believe that and an old cover or two are pretty much the only pre-Ivy songs that they really still play at all? A shame, really. Some of their earlier stuff (I guess especially as you start getting closer to the sexiness of God Cable and Fuzz Hill) is probably too much for just Yoko... But there's a fair amount of stuff they probably still could play.
Actually, they played Metal Metallica at the El Rey. The first song from their from their first album, Gravity Thief. It was awesome!

Let's get the small stuff out of the way:
All Ages were All Ages. Nothing special, though I really did appreciate their enthusiasm. Though I haven't been to a large variety of shows, I was surprised they pulled the "hold guitar/bass neck over the crowd, have crowd paw at your instrument" trick. That was pretty cool. They seem like good guys!
Noodles were surprisingly good. A decent amount from Cover Me Shakespeare and Metropolis. She Her was great, people got into it. ------ Here's the good stuff:
The order was something like: Dance With God I Think I Can Doggie Howl Carnival Blues Drive Monster Comic Sonic Rookie Jet Swanky Street Funny Bunny Instant Music One Life Little Busters Hybrid Rainbow Advice
Encore: Ride On Shooting Star Last Dinosaur
Yeah, so they played Swanky Street. It was legit is fuck, and we heard them soundcheck with it before the show. Sorry LA and SF missed out, but that's good news for New Yorkers, eh?
Speaking of things that are totally legit: discovolante, Mr Lostman, Orochi, BDMonster. HEROES. More details maybe, as I feel up for typing more. Exhausted.
