Re: the pillows 2010 US Tour!!!
According to their twitter, POP CHOCOLAT sold all of their CDs at the SF show and had to sell CD-Rs with custom packaging at the Pomona show. Did anyone at the Pomona show buy their CD? Just wondering what the packaging looks like.
It was a yellow paper CD case with a little black and white photocopy of the toilet paper tree thing in black marker as well as the songs, band members, website, and the date of the show. It was sold for only $5. I got it because I heard their first song and was really impressed. The CD is good, but I think they were A LOT better live. The keyboard on some of the songs on the CD is pretty muffled compared to the rest of the instruments.
I'm new here but I wanted to give my impression of the show last night. Pop chocolate was pretty good and they had one song that started/ended with a section that really sounded like AKFG. Monokuro had some song really good songs that made me want to get one of their CD's, plus that singer had quite the spunk to him. I was surprised how the crowd reacted to the noodles, I don't listen to them personally but they weren't half bad on stage. My first time seeing the pillows live and it was awesome. The only thing I didn't enjoy was a couple of fools going around pushing/bumping everyone around them. Me and my pal were right behind where everyone was getting pushed, it got a little worse and I got my glasses thrown off my face once the pillows took stage . I didn't know that the set list was figured out before, I wanted to really hear gazelle city ( I ended up shouting this between one of the songs.) It really did feel like you couldn't breath and some points towards the end of the show from everyone pushing up one everyone. I ended up waiting too long to buy some merch, they all sold out of cd's and only ended up with a black tour shirt 1 size smaller then I usually wear. It will probably be another 2 years in the least to get the pillows back in the USA, seems like that's a little too long.
Monokuro had a song that was the same chord structure as Funny Bunny, I believe. I thought it was kind of funny. They also had a song that sounded a lot like Cat Scratch Fever. Also, dude, I'm pretty sure I was a few people behind you. I was the heavy dude with the puffball hat and towel/sweatshirt wrapped around my neck like Carlton Banks from the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. I was wearing a light blue Save Darfur shirt. But yeah, that mosh pit was stupid and unneeded. It's not only the fact that most of the time they were moshing, it was to songs that weren't really that heavy in the first place, but also the fact that these kids aren't moshing right and are just being assholes and throwing elbows everywhere. My buddy told me a fight broke out because someone elbowed someone who wasn't even in the pit in the face. I think I saw the end of the fight, but I was trying to focus on the pillows and not on HYPER KAWAII ANIME FANS who try to practice karate moves in mosh pits at concerts.
Once the show started I got front center. And yes Mare, the random dude toward the middle chanting Swanky Street with you was me.
The dude on the left side of the stage chanting with you was me. I also shouted out Naked Shuffle a few hundred times.

Re: the pillows 2010 US Tour!!!
So, did anyone hook up with a fellow buster at one of the shows? We all know we are a dying breed - and we must procreate to perpetuate our kind.
Intercourse with someone you were already intimate with going into the concert does not count. Your partner must have attended the show, and intercourse with a non-pillows fan does not count (as if anyone would go exclusively to see one of the other bands). Intercourse that you paid for does not count.
However, Brye - male on male encounters do count. Similarly, intercourse with a fellow IMer counts double (so, if you paid for it, it only counts once).

Wow, sheer, way to multiply 2 and 0 and get 1 there.
Wow, sheer, way to multiply 2 and 0 and get 1 there.
It was a joke that didn't mean anything, but if you actually want to analyze it, you did it wrong. My statement could not be construed as a matter of multiplication, and to do so would be clearly erroneous. If you engage in sexual relations, then intercourse = 1, unless you paid for it, whereby intercourse = 0. However, if you engage in sexual relations with a member of IM, then intercourse = 2 (i.e., "double" the value of default intercourse: 1 for sexual relations + 1 for IMcest). However, if you pay for sexual relations with a member of IM, it cancels out the original intercourse, but does not cancel out the IM bonus. So intercourse = 1. Perhaps you saw the word "double" and incorrectly inferred multiplication in an irrelevant matter. However, there is no multiplication involved, as that would imply that participating in any category that does not count immediately nullifies any participation in any valid categories, which doesn't make sense. You'd think by now you'd stop trying to correct me - at least when you're drunk. Let me make it easy for you:
If (sex) { If (IMcest) { If (monetary consideration) { intercourse = 1; // Prostitution "cancels out" general sex, but not sex with Instant Music member. } Else { intercourse = 2; // "Double" the value of regular intercourse. } } Else { If (monetary consideration) { intercourse = 0; // Prostitution "cancels out" sex. } Else { intercourse = 1; // Regular intercourse. } } } Else { intercourse = 0; // You didn't have sex. I'm sorry. }
Re: the pillows 2010 US Tour!!!
So rather than paying for it making it not count, it simply adds a value of -1 to the overall score. That's definitely different from "intercourse you paid for does not count," which of course implies that any paid for intercourse has an automatic null or zero value. If you just make it so that in the case of paid intercourse, -1 is added to the overall value, you save yourself some repetitive coding (and in the case of just typing it out as in the first post, having two completely different sets of rules).
best $100 i ever spent / gave to a bastard-security guard
You do realize that you owe it to IM to find out what the 5th song was supposed to be, right? Peel that tape off, son.

If you'd like to frame it like that (whereby monetary consideration subtracts one from the "overall score"), then that does make some sense, even if it's not what I said exactly. However, "ntercourse you paid for does not count" can mean one of two things: as you stated, it could mean that any intercourse in any form in any quantity that involves monetary consideration does not count; it could also mean, ceteris paribus, intercourse does not count when monetary consideration is involved. Therefore, when other variables are involved, the outcome may differ. Well, as such, the statement alone could be ambiguous, so I suppose I can give you credit there - however, the parenthetical at the end of my post proves it to be the latter, and the reasoning is rather intuitive.
Edit: And the 10th song, which appears to have been switched, rather than removed.

Re: the pillows 2010 US Tour!!!
Pop Chocolate - better than I expected. Monokuro - very different from what I expected, surprisingly flamboyant/wild singer. Not a bad set. noodles - disappointing. I'm a big fan, and this set was a bit of a bore. Tsumannai (ironic innit?) was great, though. I dunno, they were hit and miss, but I'm very glad to have finally seen them. the pillows - great as always. What can you say? Even the shit songs like Dance With God come alive at their shows. Very enjoyable.
All in all a pretty fun show. I decided to just take it easy, not worry about buying merch, talking to the band, taking pics, or whatever. I just knocked back some IPA and enjoyed the show from a prime audio spot.
Also had a really good time in San Francisco. Spent a lot of time in Japantown trying some different takes on curry and some other delicious dishes, shopping, etc. Met up with terra on Sunday, and she kindly treated me and a lady friend to breakfast at this 50's themed place downtown. It was a nice time, so thanks again, terra.

More images later with that cd but I have to fix my red eye. Dunno why Sawao and Manabe are immune to red eye but they are.

You were the one that decided things can count as "double," so I naturally assumed that we were assigning numerical values to each situation (your coding agrees with this). Also, because you never explicitly stated that intercourse with an IM member operates under completely different rules than otherwise beyond counting for double, one can assume what I purposely did for my post, and give you a hard time over it. And, as a result, we get a bunch of walls of text going back and forth as you try to explain to me something that was pretty clear in the beginning lol.
...and here I am adding further to it. Oh, life.
Also, anybody who picked up the Monokuro albums needs to rip them pronto, I haven't been able to find any downloads and I really liked their sound.

didn't even have to peel, just held it up to the light flipped the reverse image and increased contrast for your convenience, and the results are (drumroll) YOUR ORDER and sleepy head (instead of little busters... which i would have preferred)

Re: the pillows 2010 US Tour!!!
Interesting. Sleepy Head has a heavy bass line, I wonder if it wasn't sounding quite right with however monokuro's bassist plays. Maybe just wasn't his style.
And I should have guessed Your Order, since it's the preview song that Slim's had up on their site. I'm glad that they dropped that and not Dance With God. Even if DWG's just the same standard opening fare of their past few albums, it sounded really good live. And I like it better than Your Order, anyway.

Re: the pillows 2010 US Tour!!!
So is anyone surprised that they didn't play Rodeo Star Mate? I mean really, it's Sawao's favorite pillows song. And it's short - they probably could have fit it in there.
Maybe it was due to the lack of Jun. Do you guys think they would have if Jun had come?

Re: the pillows 2010 US Tour!!!
THIS SHOW WAS DELICIOUS!! I loved every moment, except when the very rude crowd was pushing. And some asshole almost kicked my head crowd surfing. I also got sick after the show hold from the heat and holding my spot right in front of Manabe from a few dozen people. Thanks for helping me hold them back Mare. I was pleasantly surprised with pop, the bass player was really good, and had a deep powerful touch and sound. The drummer is a hard hitting, the hardest I've ever seen a female drummer hit. I'm adding them to my ipod. Monokuro was a fun heavy band, even though the songs were a bit simple there tone and stage presence kept me very intrigued. Noddles were alot better than the 08 show. Looks like they got used to being a three piece band now. The pillows were the pillows, except without Jun which really dissapoints me. Monokuro's bass player did an ok job standing in for Jun, but I wanted Jun! I even bought Carnival to have him sing it being the first single he played on. I also brought pantomime for the pillows to sing, but they left in such a hurry they didn't sign it, but Sato and Manabe smiled at me when they saw it. They sounded so good even without the orange amp, and tana starclassic. I caught one of Manabe's picks and got a whole bunch a great pictures Ill post later. I wanted to hear YOUR ORDER but damn that bass player couldn't learn it. When we stated yelling out swanky street the bass player loocked over at us freaked out like "not again." the pillows were amazing of course, and had many Manabegasms It was fun to meet Son Goshin and Mare. Had alot of fun talking about the pillows and other bands. I hope the pillows will come back soon and do a vintage LOSTMAN GO TO AMERICAN tour!

Re: the pillows 2010 US Tour!!!
Glad you guys had fun! Looked like a cool two shows, given the circumstances with Jun... I think you finally have the unofficial reason why they only did two shows...
Can any of you confirm the two set lists so I can post em??
Also, am I free to grab your fan photos to post them into an album that covers the tour? I'd like to do this within the next week, so if you have others you'd like to submit, please use the csquared99 [@] gmail [dot] com THANKS guys!

The sets were exactly the same both nights. See kosumiku's pic of the setlist, plus One Life and Last Dinosaur for encores.
