I don't know. It'd be a dick move for them to go back on the rules they laid down as foundation in the beginning (even if those rules weren't superfluous in nature). I'm sure it's Avex who's behind this thing for the most part, not the pillows.

We could do it, but we'd probably just be an annoyance.

As it has been said, whoever cheated to get into the top 20 must be unworthy. If they were taken out of the top 20, someone who could actually compete with you would replace them.

I don't like the way you said that, "[i]eh, tidusaur[/i]". So you're saying I'm against bringing this problem up because I'm afraid to face the people who deserve to be in the top 20 in place of the My Foot cover?

If that's what you're saying, then we might as well stop talking about this right now. I think everyone in the Top 20 deserves to be there except maybe a few videos (Advice, IMO, and definitely the My Foot cover... the rest are very solid). I'm telling you that I'm not going to go bitch on the pillows website six days before this 3-month contest is going to end saying, "OMG contest rulez are unfair change them!" It has nothing to do with insecurities on my part... I played that cover the best I could and if I win I win if I don't I don't. I'm not afraid of any of the covers that have been uploaded (nor do I find my abilities inferior in any way, except maybe video editing) and don't you forget it.

That said, I'm not completely against it either. If someone wants to, go ahead. But I'm not going to make myself look dumb. We knew from the start that this thing was based off of views. We knew from the start there was a high chance people would start cheating. If you wanted something to be done about it, you should've started issuing complaints long ago.

We can't know, the band can't know. The band will pick the covers they like best, and because of the lame rules, some great covers that aren't in the top 20 might not win.
We can't know how the pillows are gonna call it, if they're going to break their own rules or not.

The only thing we can do is wait. Anymore complaining and it will make us look like sore winners, or sore losers. Or just whiny bitches.

This is true. I've seen a lot of fluctuations in views... but you don't really ever know what's going on behind the scenes. I've gotten a TON of views today, but that's because friends have been spreading word of my video, and one of them really got it out there.

This is the general philosophy I'm taking on it too. I think Sheer is the one who first said, "Even if they are viewspamming, it's not like there's anything you can do about it." Or something to that affect. And still, you never know if someone's cheating. You can't really accuse unless you have proof (still, I'm calling BS on that My Foot cover for the rest of time), and in this situation, it's impossible to tell (after all, there's nothing wrong with sending to friends, etc...).

This is why I didn't want to go to the pillows whining about the rules. It would more than likely be ignored, AND we'd look like whiny assholes throwing around false accusations at the last minute. Despite any suspicions any of us might have as this thing starts to wrap up, you can't go overboard.

Guys...Viewspamming isnt the problem...There is no way that a few guys can spread that video to 3000+ people.

They are using programs like youtube fake views or messing with youtube script to increase views. it happens all the time, mainly to make money via youtube.

Also, I am pretty sure that the pillows are embarrassed at how this contest has been conducted. Most likely they were forced by avex to promote a contest in which merit doesn't have a role and entrants not coming in from japan basically get screwed.

I have basically given up on promoting my video because I know there are cheaters out there forcing their way up to the top. I personally could never cheat...because if I had won due to said cheating, I would not be able to look the pillows in the eye.

Thats my take on all of this. Let me know if you agree/disagree.

That's what viewspamming is, spamming views. It's not just linking it out to a billion random jackasses, although that would be a way to get a lot of potential views.

Uh, I doubt that. For one, if Avex was simply shoving this contest down the pillows' throats, it most likely wouldn't be open to people outside of Japan. It's likely effort on the part of the pillows that established the English component of the contest, since it's obvious enough that they try to indulge their foreign fans whenever possible. Avex really doesn't have too much to gain from foreign pillows fans beyond a few more iTunes sales.

And for another.... well, I don't at all see where your logic is going with the foreign entrants getting screwed part. I'm not seeing any barriers to the contest that make it easier for Japanese people to win. And if you're talking about the ~$1000 limit they'll provide for winners' travel expenses, that's really nothing to balk about. Especially since that's something that wouldn't at all keep anyone from winning.

I agree with Crescent on this one. The pillows really care about their foreign fans.
And I think that the contest rules are garbage, picking the winners based off of views
is ridiculous, it could be a way to organize but not to make a top 20.
