Yes, Mare, we get it. Everybody fucking fails at music except you. You're so awesome, etc. etc. etc. Think of something new to say, already. Christ.
Joeyuse, don't be rude here. I'm not saying that at all, I'm saying that people have been jumping on any tiny similarity without objectively looking at the similarity to see how small it is, and totally ignoring the much larger differences and then claim that songs are "ripoffs" of whatever else.
I see somebody say something glaringly exaggerated, I counter it with proof, post a little angrily that people shouldn't make stupid posts they can't back up, and you act like I'm some sort of asshole just because of that. Wah.
#1: don't spew music theory. i know it. two of my three favorite musicians: johnny cash (EVERYTHING IN G) and neil young (WROTE AN ENTIRE ALBUM (practically) THAT WENT I I V IV)
#2: my point about cheap tricks was that the pillows didn't use cheap tricks and these songs sound really boring to me. some artists can pull it off (gary numan using the same 32 beeps) and some can't.
#1: I wasn't so much spewing music theory as using some basics of music to point out why you guys making that claim was rather silly.
#2: okay, cool. from what you were saying earlier, it sounded as though you were implying the pillows were using cheap tricks badly, so I misread what you meant.

I dunno, considering the way you've ripped on some people in here, you're not one to be telling me not to be rude.
Defend the pillows all you want, whatever. That's personal opinion. But telling people they suck or fail at music because they think some songs sound similar and you don't is another story entirely.
You're turning into Culen.

It needs to be the theme song of one of those Rabbit devices...

I can tell you not to be rude the same way anybody can tell anybody else not to be rude. It's not like I'm breaking any rules, and I'm only rude when I'm tired or frustrated and see something stupid that I disagree with strongly. It's interesting to note that whenver I point out where somebody is incorrect and use proof that can't be argued, they just tell me to stop being an asshole and then either change the subject, usually by responding with a snide remark, or just keep arguing their invalid point.
Also, I told people they suck at music because they made a large AND incorrect claim. Saying "these two songs sound similar" and "these two songs are copies of each other" are two entirely different things. If you say "these two songs sound similar," I'd be like, yeah, they do, don't they, but they're still different. When you make an outlandish claim like "THE CHORUS FOR THIS SONG IS THE SAME AS THIS IT'S A RIPOFF/COPY ARGGGH," I tend to call you an idiot for saying something retarded and then prove why you're wrong. That's a lot different from what you're implying I've been doing.
Me turning into Culen is pretty funny, lmbo all my fives hurr hurr.

"If by "just too similar" you mean they're in the same key, then wow, you fail at music."
He said they sounded too similar for his taste, then you put words in his mouth about some music theory and told him he fails at music. I understand what you're trying to say, but it really looks to me like you're getting pissed off because some people don't like the new single, or think it's just cookie-cutter music, or in the same vein as stuff they've already done.
And yeah, in some ways you are starting to sound like Culen. Before he, y'know, turned into a vengeful forum raider.

Aside from the obviousness of it, hasn't Sawao explicitly stated the 'thematic' nature of each album - an easy example would be the duel-guitar-edness of My Foot or the similar tone/style/etc present within most of their albums. Not that I've yet heard the full single, but it would seem that the songs feel to be of a similar vein, though are clearly not replicating themselves. Wouldn't this be the makings of a cohesive album? ...which is a good thing.

That looked more to me like he was just saying that the songs were just way too similar, after just posting that the choruses were "exact copies of each other." But I could be wrong.
If you explain what you don't like about something without grossly exaggerating things, people won't jump on you and point out your mistakes.
@Snigwel: Yeah, the theme of this single is pretty solid. All three songs are love songs, at different paces and with different takes on the concept. BOYS BE LOCKSMITH seems to be mostly about how his love is an inescapable thing just like birds flying and whales swimming. Pretty neat lyrics.

Telling people that they fail at music isn't a gross exaggeration at all, nope.
Whatever, I'm bored with this. As long as everyone tries to stay on topic and stay civil, things will be fine.

I think you missed my point that when somebody says something completely exaggerated, people tend to respond in kind. But again, whatever.
I heard that the solo on the live version of Scarecrow on the DVD is different than that of the studio recording.

hey mare, go back a page and ctrl+f for "chorus" and you'll see that you're the only one who uses that word at all.
yeah, you could very well be wrong.

You had been talking about the choruses of the two songs as "there's a part of the melody that is the exact same line as scarecrow." That's where me talking about the choruses came from.

Hey, let's veer away from this, we don't want the I.M. Squadron busting this thread up. Remember what happened to Grey when he stole the Crusader?

SCARECROW - "One Life" criticisms aside, it's still really fucking mediocre
BOYS BE LOCKSMITH. - The first thing I noticed: holy hell this is the least annoying Sawao has sounded in years. An impressive intro and verse leads into... pretty much stainless steel production on an otherwise decent chorus. There's no grit - not that grit necessarily lends quality, but the lack of it basically zaps the song of the energy it might've had. Regardless, it's far more noteworthy than "SCARECROW."
tsuyogari - Oh man, fuck this. Adult-Alternative pap. Which is what I was expecting, considering it's a Mr. Children cover.
Also, somebody tell them that that synth sounds fucking awful.
EDIT: Further listens have informed me that, yeah, "BOYS BE LOCKSMITH." is actually pretty cool. Somewhat excited for the album now.
