I did not know that... Nevertheless, I believe he could handle it. He could probably play the stuff in Advice, just not... well. like, if they did a set of only b-sides it'd all be good but seriously, a show that's like 80% FLCL and 20% new stuff is fine by me. could be a lot worse. and yeah they are fun as helllive.

I have to agree. I mean, if I had my way I'd want for them to play shit off of Moon Gold and whatnot. But it'll never happen. Plus, while I've seen plenty of youtube videos of them playing their FLCL stuff, I've been listening to these guys almost 8 years and haven't yet been able to see them live. Shit, I wouldn't care if I went to a show only to see them play Ooparts from beginning to end; it'd just be a thrill to see em live.

Re: New US Pillows Tour. (Seattle date confirmed)
Ya, I wouldn't press the requests too much. Last time I saw them Sawao pointed to the bassist when a couple requests were made, and it certainly could make him feel bad if he thinks he's disappointing the pillows fans. He's not even with his band this time so he really is doing all of us a favor by playing in Jun's absence. I'm putting my faith into them taking requests beforehand for their next US tour as was mentioned in this thread and not going to NYC on 9/11. If they don't make Chicago next time I'll probably spring for 2 California shows and make a week of it.
As for rowdiness, I personally dislike it and feel it really takes away from the enjoyment when you're constantly being crushed against the stage and kicked in the face by idiots with no respect for the other (most likely much more devoted) fans. The people doing probably don't even know what any of the songs mean.

Re: New US Pillows Tour. (Seattle date confirmed)

I'm gonna be shouting out random songs like "biscuit hammer" and "Kanojo wa kyou" also "babylon tenshi no uta", scarecrow, third eye etc... XD It's worth a try...
What Tidus said. This won't accomplish anything. I can almost guarantee you that the Monokuro bassist has not practiced any other songs than what the band has planned for. So, basically the previous setlist posted. Maybe there's a little deviation, Runners High or Advice here or there...but shouting requests will do nothing other than 1) Make the Monokuro bassist (and rest of the band members) a little disappointed that they can't play ANY of the requests, no matter how easy, 2) Be equivalent to "HEY EVERYBODY! I KNOW A GOOD PORTION OF THE PILLOWS' DISCOGRAPHY!!" Not to shoot you down, but I don't think anyone's gonna be all "Aw man! This guy knows a good portion of the pillows' discography! What a cool dude!" The best thing we can do, in my opinion, is get hype about the songs they can play for us. Go nuts for Blues Drive Monster (why the fuck not, it's an awesome song) and bob along to Comic Sonic. I mean, right? I will eat my shoe and post a video in the GR thread if they play you Strange Chameleon - don't take that as a challenge though.
I don't care if anyone thinks I'm cool, just like to hear those songs lol... That being said, I'm still selling a whole bunch of shit to go to Austin to see them, Jun or no Jun, FLCL or not... Either way, I think the main thing I wish now besides having Jun come this time is I wish they either A) Straightened out Jun's Visa/whatever issues beforehand or B) Practiced a lot of songs with Monokuro's bassist as a backup... Also, yes I would enjoy a setlist of all FLCL even, and even though I don't sing/play guitar in public I'll probably be singing along as well... Especially Ride on shooting star and Hybrid rainbow since I can remember the Japanese lyrics for them...

Re: New US Pillows Tour. (Seattle date confirmed)
Yeah. I think it's time to shift into full optimism mode, there's no other real option. And that's cool. Because an FLCL dominated set is MUCH MUCH MUCH better than a set dominated by Pied Piper, OOPARTS, and Horn Again. No fucking contest. Also yeah, what pr0n said: If there are lurkers reading this - PLEASE DON'T GET ROWDY AS FUCK. If you wanted to be in front, you would have gotten here earlier...just like the people in front of you did. This isn't fucking Flogging Molly, this is the pillows we have young petite Asian girls, and lanky weaklings like me who do not want to get crushed by your body. And I do not want to feel anyone's shoes on the top of my head. Basically I really really hate it when I have to focus more on staying standing on my own two feet, over focusing on enjoying the music. re: Bebop - but the thing is, they won't play those songs. I don't think you understand.

Re: New US Pillows Tour. (Seattle date confirmed)
Even if Jun was there the chances of them playing a song you shout out is slim too, I might not request songs and I may, but I'm at least gonna say "Rodeo Star Mate" and "Texan Daily life."

Re: New US Pillows Tour. (Seattle date confirmed)
I think it's been statistically proven that the only way to get the pillows to play [random song you shout out] is to be an American that Sawao recognizes and addresses during a MC at a concert in Japan.
Just saying.
