Kamkor's rar isn't working for me, they all say "file is corrupt." Some of the scans work, but even some of them are corrupt. I've downloaded it a couple times, I don't know why it won't work for me...
! C:\Users\Daniel\Music\aznmp3THEPILLOWS-SCARECROW192kbpsxScans2007.04.04.zip: CRC failed in 02. BOYS BE LOCKSMITH.mp3. The file is corrupt
! C:\Users\Danile\Music\aznmp3THEPILLOWS-SCARECROW192kbpsxScans2007.04.04.zip: CRC failed in 03. tsuyogari.mp3. The file is corrupt
I'll restart my computer, don't know what that could do, though.
:edit:
My brother did something with 7-zip, it works now.

I agree, but HMV and other japanese stores don't accept my credit card.. Sucks living in Poland, or not being able to afford better creditcard, hehe.

it's not that rare a song doesn't have a solo.... i think it's enough the song has some different parts, and rhythm changes. like Advice, Midnight Down, Xavier. there might be others, except for instrumental ones, of course.

Interestingly, somebody said that BOYS BE LOCKSMITH reminded them slightly of Midnight Down.

also, if you buy the single from tower, there's a yellow mini-calendar, and a pink one for HMV.

yeah, some parts slightly
but wow, that song's intro riffs has simillarities with Stand Up And Go and Sukitooi Tegami's begining verse, but most with Energy

That's what I'm doing. I got screwed over on the extra shipping cost ($30 FOR A SINGLE IS A BIT EXPENSIVE, DON'T YOU THINK?) so this release had better come with a poster. Or I will be angry. Sorta.

Well yea that got me a little irritated too, but a little bit of the price has to do with it being a limited edition. Still, getting a poster or maybe some stickers wouldn't be that bad. I'm really not expecting it, but you never now.

The price mostly is the shipping, the limited hardly costs more than the normal (just like two bucks if i recall).

I'm doing regular Air Mail for the album, came down to $33.98. (new customer account gave me 3 bucks deducted) I'd rather do that than tack on buku bucks extra just to get it teleported directly to my house via the OMGWTF Cannon. Seriously, I can wait 4-12 days, it's not hard.
Patience is a virtue.
:edit:
Also, I liked the two songs on the single a lot. His singing is cleaner, and the production sounds really good.
Completely unrelated, but does anyone know what font the pillows logo uses? I need it... for something...

Yea, that's why I'm saying just a little bit. I recall my Third Eye single was about $25, maybe $26 total.

thoughts:
Aight, so Scarecrow is pretty damn good. Sounds even better in full quality..the youtube rip quality was lacking - now we can hear more instrumentation, and that's pretty cool. I say...A-
BOYS BE LOCKSMITH. Really enjoyed the intro. This really clean/clear picking sounded nice, as did Sawao's vocal melody...then the distortion kicked in, turning the awesome factor down...significantly. The chorus was alright, but the main problem I have with this song is that Sawao didn't let it breathe. Fast(er) paced is fine, but it's almost constant singing in a very "flowing" style. The song's over too fast, he should have taken a little break somewhere in there. The musical backing behind Sawao during the pre-chorus and chorus was pretty much just toneless filler with no lead. What's the fun in that? I guess your enjoyment of this song would depend solely on whether you liked Sawao's vocal melody or not. For me, it was too scattered and rushed. Sort of like: "Oh, here's this cool fingerpicking that sounds nice! Let's see if I can write a song with it in...15 minutes."
I don't hate the song, I just think it's pretty weak for a pillows b-side (which are usually just as good as the singles...some years ago, that is) I'll probably enjoy it on sunny days when I'm in a good mood and energetic and need something to play. But yeah. C+ at best.
Tsuyogari
Hey Sawao! There seems to be a good trend going here: When you slow down and take it easy for a change, the results are usually pretty good. And yes, I'm aware this is a Mr. Children cover. I liked Manabe's tone in this, very similar to Scarecrow. It's a good song, similar to Sayonara Universe, yes? One thing though, with these ballad-like songs, I sorta shows how Sawao's vocals aren't holding up as well as they did in the past. I think the high-production is actually working against him now. It's too clean, and makes it too apparent that...well, it sounds like he's stressing to hit some notes. Yeah yeah, vocal ability was never really the selling point for the pillows, but it makes a song a little less confortable for the listener when they can hear the vocalist streeetching to get that note, trying to put some power into it.
Good choice of a song to cover, but...meh. B.
Here's hoping for Wake Up! Wake Up!'s success.
