That was another thing I noticed about the FLCL music: it was ALL good, even the little tidbits they'd play just a few seconds of, like Last Dinosaur or BDM. And the stuff on the bridge at night was so dramatic (Stalker, Beautiful Morning With You)...I was absolutely mesmerized by how emo it was...
...and I mean that in a a GOOD way....
Really...I had just never heard anything like it. Never.

first time I ever heard the pillows was when I was in my second band.....my friend was showing me this drumming intro he wanted me to do for a cover we were workin on. Turned out to be the Rush intro. He gave me the CD later on and I listened to the actual song and I got hooked. Then I went and listened to the rest of the songs on Happy Bivouac

i think i can after watching rushmore.
i remember listening to this song and realizing the uncanny parallels the title had to the theme and poster of the film:

Hmm...first time *thinks about it*
Ah, the first time I ever listening to them when I was looking up random Japanese artist see if there was anymore besides Yoko Kanno...then while on the internet this website had a link to a Japanese band called: The Pillows. I thought it was a funny but yet random name for a band so I checked out.
First I heard was: White Summer, Green Bicycle, Red Hair, and Black Guitar. (awsome song even today! Love it.) So, no it wasn't FLCL that got me started on it. But I did freak out when I found out they did songs on my favorite anime FLCL.
By the way don't they do their song: Borderline Case on Evangelion (unless someone else has the same song name.)? If so then I heard them long before FLCL was even born.

So, my friend told me about this show called FLCL while I was in California. I had been hooked on Japanese music by Maeda Ai and Wada Kouji while this happened. I saw the last episode of FLCL, and I remember I Think I Can. I didn't even know the band was Japanese. I just knew I had to get the soundtrack for FLCL. And this was the summer when FLCL first aired, I must add. I didn't even pay attention to anything but the music, but I still didn't figure out that they were Japanese. Then I went home after a few weeks and went on WinMX and typed in FLCL and got results, like FLAME... so I downloaded FLAME, Last Dinosaur, Hybrid Rainbow, and We Have a Theme Song. I remember walking down on the sea shore during sunset with my CD player, listening to Hybrid Rainbow. I felt all quiet and calm until I heard Sawao screaming "Can you feeeeeel?!" and that's when I felt a rush and fell in love.

Actually, it was Ride on Shooting Star and I loved it. It was nice and crunchy like a rice krispie treat, I wanted to take bite so I did. YUM!

same song for me as well. it was two years ago when i was watching the first episode of FLCL on adult swim. so ride on shooting star plays on the end theme song and i'm like, 'holy crap that is awesome!' to my delight, a few months later the soundtrack hit stores and i bought it just so i could listen to ride on shooting star. little did i know that that one song would get me hooked on the band itself and i've been enjoying the pillows ever since!
