10. Ready Steady Go! GR's interpretation: "KLINGON THIS PAINYEAH? THE OVAL BEATS AGAIN. KEN IS ALSO A JUG-TEA! I CAN FISH INDOORS! FOREVER NEVERALONE...ANIMAL DON'T CONSIDER STIR-FRY! SO I LEAVE: ONLY THESE FATTIES...Wonderful..."
I say this is signature worthy. Mind if I borrow this?

It's been almost 48 hours and this isn't yet available on iTunes Japan.
Does that mean I can pirate it now?

Re: the pillows - TRIAL (Album Discussion)
Thanks for the upload! I've only listened to it once, so I really need some more time to formulate some full thoughts here. But on very first listen, Polaris is really standing out, although i agree about how the climax doesn't really work exactly. Loving Trial (song) more and more. That riff is friggin awesome, as is the solo. I look forward to listening to this album more. It just feels... different. Revival and Rescue kind of set a tone. I don't know exactly what tone yet... but I hope to find out on repeated listens over the new few weeks.

Definitely my favorite album since My Foot. Sawao is back on the ball. I'm gonna be listening to this album a lot. No skippable tracks!

Re: the pillows - TRIAL (Album Discussion)
-I love the feel of Rescue. It's so cozy; I feel surrounded by pillows (no pun intended). Yoko should join the pillows. -Comic Sonic is great as usual. In fact it's more fun in the context of the album. -Polaris… I feel like I should be on vacation on a beach sipping lemonade. The verse reminds me of a NES game. Also, Puffy AmiYumi. -Minority Whisper is musically pretty good. -Blah blah GUITER - Very sweet, but maybe too long. -There are some cool vocal moments, but for the most part Sawao sounds like a teenager who doesn't know how to express himself because he's too busy trying to sound cool. I'm so tired of it. I want to hear him expressing his true self with confidence. -Pitch correction all over the fucking place. It's become less of a disappointment. -More creative than the past few albums. 1UP. -Best album since Sgt Pepper. kidding.

Re: the pillows - TRIAL (Album Discussion)
In that jungle of animal sounds he calls english I heard the apple juice bit... I knew that song would come short of it's potential because of the english. We can see where he is going with it but the poor word choice just slashes all the impact away. I wish someone around him had the balls to tell him he's damaging his products. It's like he wants to do Hamlet in clown shoes. Revival is just frickin' mach 5. The emotion really comes through in the words and the music, I bet it was a very cathartic song for them to write. The notes they are hitting when they are spelling out words, it just grabs my heart and squeezes. And when it arrives at the section from the sample clip, it just completely owns it. The chorus of Minority Whisper also carries such a quality. I dunno guys, I think mochinushi no nai guitar is just perfect the way it is. Is it the new record for longest song (lol) or did they have another song in the 7 minute range...? Methinks they popped in their Pearl Jam and Soundgarden records for inspiration on this.

Quite surprised and impressed with this one. This is probably the most unique sound I've heard coming from them in a looong time. And that minority whisper chorus!

Re: the pillows - TRIAL (Album Discussion)
Revival - Very good opener, gets better as it goes on. Had me very pumped for the rest. By R-E-V-I-V-A-L I was ready to love this album. Rescue - Potentially great song torpedoed by one terrible snore of a chorus. Man. Comic Sonic - Still wish it built more towards the end, but this one has grown on me a lot since I first heard it. Flashback Story - It's... quirky? Eh. Energia - Favorite on the album by a pretty wide margin. Awesome. Polaris... - zzzzzzzzzzzzzz. Nothing against downbeat songs but this is incredibly boring. Minority Whisper - I like the sound and the chorus but it needed more. Great lyrics could have helped this one. Mochinushi... - Two good minutes of song arbitrarily stretched out to a seven minute long Big Song. Doesn't go anywhere. Trial - The rest of this album is making me appreciate the song more than I did before lol. Ready Steady Go - Another potentially fun song dragged down by a lame, uninspired chorus.
This was disappointing. Falls right into place with the band's recent mediocrity, imo. I'd say it's better than Ooparts and Horn Again, the worst songs here are just blah instead of punch-you-in-the-face bad, but all three fall within that "meh" range for me so ranking feels pointless lol. It's a far cry from Pied Piper's handful of great songs or the genuinely good Wake Up x3 and My Foot.
I guess we now have the "meh" trifecta of Ooparts, Horn Again and Trial to go with the "holy shit" trifecta of Little Busters, Runners High and Happy Bivouac. It's been a long time since I believed the band could get back to their late 90s greatness, but I think I've now lost hope of them even getting back to the early/mid 00s. I guess I just hope we still get a "1989" once in a while.

Re: the pillows - TRIAL (Album Discussion)
Really, I don't understand what all the hubbub is about. You're all suffering from "new album adrenalin". Give it about a week and you all will realize that this album is no better than the past two. Seriously, the only tracks I will still want to listen to a week from now are that long "guitar" one and the penguin song. Trial and Energia are great numbers, but I already knew that. The rest are just more mediocre tracks on par with all the other recent mediocrity.
Not a bad album per se, but I definitely don't see how this beats Ooparts or Horn Again.
Thanks for the upload. I'm glad I didn't blow money on it.

Re: the pillows - TRIAL (Album Discussion)
^Not sure if trolling, but... I'll agree OOPARTS and Horn Again left MUCH to be desired, but if you really can't appreciate this album, then you probably won't enjoy what they release for what's left of their career. I recommend you guys keep listening to The Holy Trinity on repeat or buy some Q-Tips for your ears and listen to this again. But still, I'm happy MOST of the community enjoyed this, gives me hope for this forum.
