Re: the pillows 2010 US Tour!!!
I'm unavailable any day after the 20th, since I'm going back to the west coast on the 21st.

Re: the pillows 2010 US Tour!!!
If you're going to try and put on something in NYC, you shouldn't worry about doing it directly around the same time as their CA tour. However if that's what you want to do, then I would say do the weekend before; it might create more hype for the CA shows.
Also, I'm interested in coming/playing some songs if you get it off the ground. I'm in a band that plays garage rock with "Japanese" lyrics, as well as some covers like TMGE. We're from Baltimore, so getting to NYC to play isn't a big deal; although it would be even less of a big deal if you can provide a back-line for us to use. Or if the rest of my band can't do it, I would be interested in doing some collabo stuff with whoever.

Re: the pillows 2010 US Tour!!!
After thinking about it this weekend, there are a few factors that I think will contribute to a poor showing if we do this show in May.
First, I'm certain that the resentment over the real band not coming to NYC will contribute to a low attendance.
Second Mare is not available before the 20th, and unfortunately my band doesn't think we have time to prepare an entire set for a mid-May show. I would like to do it the weekend before the Cali shows to build a buzz but I think it's a long shot to get everything and everyone organized.
There was not an overwhelming response on Facebook, only mild interest, so perhaps a few months from now after the buzz for the real tour is gone, we can build up a solid promotional effort to organize a pillows/j-rock night in NYC. If we don't attract 100-200 people I don't think it would be worth it. I want to fill our place and broadcast it live on Ustream for all the other fans out there in other countries. The bigger the buzz, the easier I can get the Avex Machine to do something with it.
More time means more time to promote, practice, and organize. Anyone up for doing this in the summer or even fall of this year?

I'll be on the west coast for the summer, but you could definitely count us in if it were in the fall, I think.

 Re: Cover show in NYC
We can look to the fall, that would give us time to promote. What month would you like? September? October?

 Re: Cover show in NYC
If you're going to do it in the Fall, please do it on a weekend! I wouldn't miss it for the world, but I have class everyday except Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

I can't wait to see all three of us who will be there. Well, at least the cover bands won't have to divide their time with two other bands that nobody gives a shit about.

 Re: Cover show in NYC
A quick update on this event: We will hold this on Saturday, September 18th. I am awaiting confirmation on the bar's end. Don't want to move forward until I get the OK. Will have an answer by the end of May at the latest. I'm looking to book the show with Echostream, an NYC J-Rock like band, plus the other IMer bands. Half J-rock, half pillows tribute show, potentially 4 bands total... We will promote through all channels naturally, I've spoken to a few blogs who are interested in checking it out. People seem excited enough. Have not talked to Avex yet about final plans, waiting for the bar's OK. They WILL allow us to UStream it with a link on the Facebook page. Not worried about the crowd... between my band's crowd and you guys/regional fans/other band followings, we'll have plenty of people for the venue. Besides, more people will probably watch on the Internet anyway. Will be in touch about this soon

 Re: Cover show in NYC
I'm potentially interested (admittedly it helps to have friends in NYC that I want to visit at some point anyway...).

If anyone needs a drummer, I can help out. I haven't been playing too long but I can hold my own on the drums.

 Re: Cover show in NYC
If it's in a bar, will we have to be 21 to enter? I'm only 18. I hope they'll let me in.
