I must admit, when I first listened to Living Field, Native World was the only track I didn't think was all that great at first. Over time, though, I've grown to like it a lot, but I still think it is a tad out of place on the album.
As for Swinger's Night Club…well, frankly, I think it would have been ruined if they had added vocals or a more rockin' feel to it—it would kill the whole subdued nature of the song that works so well in the first place. Also, the guitar work is not only interesting to listen to, but really quite fitting, and once again, I think less of it in favor of other elements would actually detract from the song.
Also, flow-wise, I'd argue that it works quite well in bridging the upbeat, fast-tempo feel of Daydream Wonder with the more relaxed, mellowed-out feel of Something Like a Romance.
