Re: Favorite lyric/line
Funny bunny I wonder where you are and what you're doing now I can just imagine you, shyly turned away from me I miss you I love that line. The song in general. But that part is the one that gets to me. Scent of sweet Yes, scent of sweet I won't forget The special memories Yes, Scent of sweet The whole world is hooked on her I won't be able to see her again The whole song again but this line is the one that really is sad. You enjoyed being with someone yet you wont ever see them again. Beautiful Picture The truth is, the truth really is The truth is I couldn't say anything, but the truth is The truth is, the truth really is The truth is, ever since that time The truth is I'm lonely, I'm going crazy Just stay there I just like it Moon is mine Come on, starlight, I dream of us embracing Goodnight, sleep tight, I sleep beside you I like it. The way he is screaming it. The echo. One more My girl (fiction ver) If you're off somewhere Laughing with someone I just can't convince myself That I don't care I really want to see you I really want to touch you But you're probably Already a different person I like that part. It's sad, yet nice. I like the fiction version more then the documented one. I would post more but as blank mention. I will probably be going through the whole list

I dunno man. I mean I'm agnostic to the point of indifference, but to have belief in someone more powerful than believing in a being more powerful than comprehension. Religion takes a form of devotion, and it's like..rather than devoting your soul to something like that, your devoting it to a flawed human, putting absolute faith in this person right in front of you... I remember almost bawwing the first time I heard scarecrow..

Re: Favorite lyric/line
You don't have to believe in God in order to appreciate that line. That would be like saying that, as an atheist, Catholic architecture (or any other religious-themed art) just doesn't do it for you. If you really feel that way, though, you're missing out on some of the most beautiful things on this planet.
If you want to comfortably interpret the line, just imagine a man who trusts his friend more than he trusts* someone (something, anything - let's assume he exists, because that's not the point) who is...well, infallible. I hope it provides a bit more kick for you now?
*I assume he's not saying "I believe in your existence more than I believe in God's existence, which I believe in very much." That would not only be far less meaningful, but it's just plain silly. Even though Mare phrased it that way (not the wrong way - just with a misleading synonym, especially considering the context) in his translation, I would think that "trust" is a far more appropriate word than "believe."**
**Then again, I don't speak Japanese.
= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =
Although I would think that Japanese is one of the easiest languages to write in (particularly for a song), I like to think (or pretend) that everything in "Bokura no Hare Suisei" is perfection and lyrical genius.

Re: Favorite lyric/line
Oh, I wasn't saying that as an Atheist I appreciate it less. I really do appreciate it, I like the line. I'm just being silly and saying it's not really a lyric I personally would write. And yes, I do appreciate religiously inspired/motivated/whatever'd art. There's a piano version of Jesus bleibet meine Freude that's pretty much one of my favorite instrumental pieces in my entire music library. Not that I'm trying to prove anything. So, before this gets derailed, lines, lyrics, let's continue!
Although less profound, I've always been fond of Ladybird Girl's: "furui GITAA de atarashii uta mata tsukuttan da yo"

Exactly. He's just saying that there's nothing more reliable to him than the person he's singing to. In this case, "believe in" refers more to "relies completely upon," not "believes they exist."

She is perfect I'm fall in love She is no sect Like the wind She has no form, no color You can't hold her You can only feel her
...no sect? anyway i LOVE the song but whats that even mean?

Escape from the sinking! Do you see what I mean? Freedom beats the kingdom! and I saw you in my dream.
With my eyes open, I could see everything I'll cut through the wind Just, runners high!
Dizzy my future Silly my way

"Escape from the sinking! Do you see what I mean? Freedom beats the kingdom! and I saw you in my dream." These are probably the vaguest punk lyrics I've ever heard.
