Again, seconded. My number one complaint with MY FOOT is the production.

Yeah, in some album versions of the songs, it's a lot harder to get "into" it unless if you can hear Sawao's voice unmolested.
I never really got into Nowhere until I heard the Acoustic version, just because it had so much more feeling in it than the album version did. I mean, I liked Nowhere and stuff, but after I heard the acoustic version I was like: Wow.
It was kind of the same thing with Ice Pick. In the album version, I don't think it quite catches the same feeling as the acoustic version. At first I didn't really like Ice Pick so much (I'm unsure, maybe it seemed too fast-paced in the album version) but I always liked the lyrics. Hrm, I don't know exactly... In the acoustic one it seems like Sawao's more saddened and the album version seems more apathetic vocally. *Grasps at straws.*
I guess I agree with Thinliine in that they need to slow down with some of their songs. Granted it'd be hard to top the trio's level of greatness, I've still got faith in the pillows and I'd like to see the next album, like many people have said, to be slower and perhaps a bit grungier in nature. Stuff like Wake Up, Frenzy; Nowhere; Beautiful Morning with You; and Our Halley's Comet.
EDIT: Heck, I'd love to see more songs like Climbing on the Roof and Borderline Case.

Just popping in to tell you that listening to that song makes you less of a human being.
And that people who enjoy it should be rounded up and summarily executed.

It'd be nice if they got a bit more gritty-kind of like the stuff off of Runners High.

The Pillows haven't made a bad album. Every album is different in it's own right, and that alone should be respected, even if we don't agree that each album is good to our individual standards.
I expect the new album to contain Shin being Shin, Manabe making out with his guitar, Sawao being crazy, and Jun head banging to slower songs songs. That's what makes a Pillows album (minus the Jun bit considering he's not an original member).
Though I do somewhat agree that My Foot was a little over produced. The layers sound so off on some songs, My Foot in particular. Especially with Manabe's guitar.
I would enjoy something that was more reminiscent of TYMT though. NOT EXACTLY or even similar, just reminiscent.

I'd like to see at least one new song, it could even be a b-side, that is reminescent of a KOOL SPICE or LIVING FIELD song, but I know that won't happen.

Probably not. They've gone pop and I don't think they're going back.
Er at least pop in my opinion.

Err, any of you remember that setlist they played a few months back? Didn't it have a few LF songs on it?
The pillows sure haven't forgotten about their old material...hah. But good luck getting them to play it in the US.

Manabe does not make out with his guitar. He gently fucks it into musical orgasms.

The only thing this album needs is a cover of Sawao in the Day Dream Wonders hat. That would instantly make it the greatest album ever.

To be honest, I'd say something like "more like Happy Bivouac", but Smile was pretty awesome. I'm really diggin' their instrumentals over the past few years too. I just want them to make good music.
