I like Lo-Fi Boy as well.
And I've always said that Good Dreams is a better overall album than My Foot, though My Foot has a few individual songs that I think beat any particular song off Good Dreams.

TURN BACK is great, and the Bokura no Halley suisei in particular is amazing.
i've listened to my foot once. good dreams probably twice.

I haven't listened to Penalty Life in at least 3 years. No bullshit and exaggeration.
Seriously, guys? PENALTY LIFE and GOOD DREAMS definitely had to grow on me, but I like them both pretty well now. The first couple times I listened to them I didn't really like them at all, but I forced myself to give them more chances after a while, and it paid off. And, while they're generally not quite up to par with the rest of their albums, they're still way better than a lot of other music, by different bands/artists, that I hear. MY FOOT is enjoyable, too, but I actually think I like it less than the first time I heard it, and I listen to it less often...no clue why. (And I'm not saying that it's a worse album than either of the other two (or the opposite).)
I also like Low-fi Boy, Fighter Girl. Seriously, I can't pick out a pillows song that I don't like, or, rather, that I dislike. I just like some songs more than others. GOOD DREAMS is pretty weak, though. I love Orange film garden, for some reason.

OFG is weird for me; I like it when it's just coming out of the speakers, but I hate it when I'm wearing headphones. I guess the off vocals and the stuff Manabe's doing during the verses irritates me when the sound is more concentrated into my ears.
I don't think Sono mirai wa ima is a ripoff of Last Dinosaur. Last Dinosaur is intense, driving and emotional, while Sono mirai wa ima is intense, driving and dreamy, with a more pronounced pop chorus. They're in the same car, but they are going in different directions. I don't like one more over the other, they are both cool. I love Sono mirai wa ima's video too, it's pretty clever.

The thing is...I'll agree that "Sono Mirai Wa Ima" and "Last Dinosaur" are similar, but I'm glad that the pillows recorded both of them, because I enjoy each of them very much. I could easily listen to one after the other without feeling I've listened to the same song twice.

I've actually never heard TURN BACK before--are the new versions of the songs any better than their originals?

depends on who you ask. recording quality is better, but performance quality is subjective. i happen to prefer the new ones.

So, I finally heard a bit of Our Halley's Comet from TURN BACK, and I must say it's a vast improvement. The recording quality on White Incarnation always bothered me, because there was this weird echo every time I heard it.

The recording quality on old stuff used to bother me, but now I like it. It adds a bit of distinctive charm to the older albums, I think. You don't hear much (relatively) modern music with the same sort of production values as on the early albums.

We actually seem to agree more often than not...the biggest disagreement came because you believe that an artist has a commitment to his art, and I believe that an artist only has a commitment to himself. In my opinion, both those views are understandable...just different.
On another note, I prefer the WI version of BNHS because I think the pace is better, and it seems a little more airy, mystical, and reminiscent - which I think is the point of the song. The TB version sounds too muddy. Of course, I couldn't get more subjective here if I tried, and I don't have any objective ways to reason with you, but this is what I feel when I compare the two.
