I like the whole album, it's one of my favorites, but I will say that Morning + Busstop is the best opening to a pillows album, ever, IMO. Thus, I voted GMGN.

speaking of the whole KUTABARE NINGENDOMO thing...

katakana speech is reserved for robots. well, speaking only in katakana. usually. so i assume that the voice in the sky is an alien or a robot or something. discuss.

I always thought it was supposed to be god saying "Fuck You Humans". Or I mean 'God'. :P

I voted Vain Dog(in Rain Drop), but Fun Fun Fun Ok also wins in my heart.

Bumping this thread because I dare say that Smile is the most under-appreciated pillows album. I know I haven't spent as much time listening to it as it deserves.

I think I'd also revise my opinion from earlier in this thread and say that Vain Dog is my favorite song on the album.

Fun Fun Fun OK! I love the guitar work in that one.

Yeah, it's a great album. Good Morning Good News is amazing. Smile is amazing... man. Great album.

To be completely honest, I'm surprised Good Morning Good News hasn't gotten more votes. The solo is probably Manabe's most facemelting solo ever (objectively), we even get a SECOND solo at the end, and the chorus just SLAMS at the level of Skeleton Liar's chorus. The intro, after the filter'd chorus, at 0:13, fuck it's like the entire band plus a baby elephant just blast your headphones apart.

GMGN is a little suprising, its a fantastic opener. It's a tough choice for me between that and Skim Heaven. I think that musically and lyrically GMGN is a better song, but I have more fun listening to Skim Heaven.

Happy Bivouac takes that prize in my book, but GMGN is incredibly strong as well.

I agree with GR that it features some of Manabe's best, most intense lead work.

I've had these thoughts before. My favorite openings are Happy Bivouac, GMGN, and My Foot.

GMGN and Happy Bivouac are just on another level than My Foot, though. When it comes between GMGN and HB, I can't really choose... both have excellent energy and power.
