Whoops.
Well this is a major disappointment. Screw Jun. He needs to be replaced.

I never thought the bass on Runner's High was especially good. Half because I can't hear it, half because when I do it's like Kashima doesn't give a shit. No Self Control is ok though.

The guitars really hide the bass a lot on runners high but if you try to listen there's a killing bass on that album, didn't get where the doubt about who plays there came from, Jun would never do a bass like the one in no self control bridge. I still have doubts about how far he composed the bass work for happy bivouac, I wonder if they had already some songs done when kashima left.

For one thing, what the hell is with people hating Jun? God forbid they replace their bassist and continue recording and playing after Kashima leaves-- They did it with Ueda too and I'm fairly sure nobody complained then. Beside that, Jun's an amazing bassist anyway, and I'd have to agree with Keitaro and vote 'Biscuit Hammer', or maybe 'Thunder Whales Picnic'. By the way, the arpeggio at the end of 'Sono Mirai wa Ima' is nice, too. I'm not sure who composed the bass on the 'Happy Bivouac' album (I haven't looked in the booklet despite having it for a looong time; I didn't bother because I couldn't read the kanji on the lyric sheets anyway.), but Jun's playing was wonderful even if he didn't write the basslines. 'Happy Bivouac' and 'LAST DINOSAUR' are some of the better examples of the pillows' work, especially in the basslines.
Also, I don't know when Kashima left the band, but considering that Happy Bivouac was released in December of '99, Jun may very well have done some of the writing. All of it would be doubtful, since it usually takes a band awhile to write and record--
But still, they got a new bassist. Years ago. Get over it, please?

The real question is...
WHY DO YOU CARE?

He's ok. If he would keep his work up to the level of Happy Bivouac, I'd be a big fan. But to answer your question, we like to make fun of Jun because he exhibits EMO traits and tries to get with members of the band noodles.

I would too if I were sexy. >_>
-Cough.- Any, it doesn't matter what kind of person he is as long as he continues to be a good musician. No different to me than Sawao, Manabe and Shin-Chan...He plays a fine bass guitar and that's all I need to know. Also, to answer you, Josher--
I care because for some reason I have this hatred for that kind of senseless negative sentiment. Objectivity is a plus, friend.

Sort of the same with me. Bass is definitely important, but it sort of...effects me subconsciously, unless its extremely prominent, like in Funny Bunny.
Sure, Jun may not be the best bassist, but it doesn't take away from my enjoyment of their newer music in the slightest.
