Re: the pillows - TRIAL (Album Discussion)
Energia, Mochinushi, & Trial remain favorites. Everything else just kinda became idle background music for my life.

Re: the pillows - TRIAL (Album Discussion)
There's some really good stuff on this album. Rescue, Comic Sonic, Mochinoshi, Energia, Minority Whisper. The only song that gets a negative score from me is Ready Steady Go!

Re: the pillows - TRIAL (Album Discussion)
Rescue and Trial get only a few plays these days. Everything else is fair game for shuffle. Oh, except Ready Steady Go. Just... not good man.

Re: the pillows - TRIAL (Album Discussion)
Yeah I actually like the album less now. It's not bad. It's just not "wow". "Revival" is probably my favorite. "Energiya" is alright. It's a bit repetitive though. Same thing with Trial. "Comic Sonic" has grown on me since it came out as a single. It took some getting used to. "Ready Steady Go" is probably the most annoying song on the album. It's not awful. It just seems random. If I listen to it with song from other albums it's bearable. I don't know.
The only thing that this has going for it is that it doesn't have any really really bad songs like "Foxes". haha It's just kind of bland. That's just my opinion though. I don't think it's a bad album or anything.
Seems like you guys all have similar feelings.
I wasn't crazy about the album at first. I tried to let it grow on me, but it just got old fast. Months later, my opinion on the album has probably lessened from my initial impression.
I totally agree. Except I actually really liked it at first.
I've loved it exponentially more, every time a track comes on shuffle. Especially the title track, I wasn't the biggest initial fan, but I've been loving it as of late.
Really? Hmm...maybe I'll listen to it some more.
Overall I still think it's pretty meh, but definitely an improvement over Horn Again
I think Horn Again actually had some more interesting guitar parts. There were a couple of stinkers though.
Ready Steady Go, while the song itself isn't the best, I love the intro. It has a real classic bluesy rock feel.
Yeah I like the intro too!

Still haven't heard this thing yet!
I tried the download link on the first page, but when I tried to unzip it, it said that I "don't have permission" to see its contents. Could someone possibly re-up this?

I had a dream last night that I was at their concert. Manabe messed up on one of the songs and got really upset. Haha It was weird.

Re: the pillows - TRIAL (Album Discussion)
So, I finally decided to give this album a try, and I was pleasantly surprised. By far their best effort since My Foot or Wake Up! (x3). Highlights for me include Rescue, Comic Sonic, Energia and Polaris. The rest of the songs range from pretty good to average, which emphasizes the album's strongest trait: consistency. I can listen to it without skipping any track. Too bad Sawao keeps butchering songs with his awful, awful Engrish, but I'm willing to let it go this time around.
By the way, does anyone know what are the proper English translations for Polaris and Mochinushi no Nai Guitar?

Re: the pillows - TRIAL (Album Discussion)
Translations of the song titles themselves?
Polaris = "Polaris Was Not Picked Up At The Shining Dream"
Mochinushi = "Guitar with no Owner" or "Ownerless Guitar"
And yeah, you're late to the general opinion lol. Consensus was more or less it being their best album since My Foot/Wake Up x3.
Sawao's Engrish has managed to find ways to become progressively worse. At least pillows albums tend to keep the Engrish limited. Sawao's recent solo albums have been all but ruined by it.
