Post Re: New US Pillows Tour. (Seattle date confirmed)
ladybirdgirl, I think the best thing to communicate about the setlists is this:

The people who go to these shows will KNOW the pillows' discography. FLCL happened a long time ago, no one's going just to hear the FLCL tracks. People who go to these shows LOVED Smile, Thank You My Twilight, Please Mr. Lostman, and Good Dreams to some extent - but songs from those albums haven't been played here.

We can guarantee that the pillows are going to play 1) Their new shit. 2) The songs that got them famous. I think we would all REALLY appreciate it if you could convey that the middle ground is also SUPER important (if not more important than the FLCL tracks) because they have never been seen live by a Western audience. You need to tell them that people would go APESHIT over songs like Shiroi, TYMT, Good Morning Good News, Waiting at the Busstop, Good Dreams, Sono Mirai, Ice Pick, Trip Dancer, Fool On the Planet. No, these songs aren't the hot new singles. But to US fans, they DEFINITELY are. Please make them realize that this is their (what, FOURTH?) time being in the US and that they've been doing the whole Hybrid Rainbow/Little Busters/One Life/Advice/Runners High schtick for all of them. The middle ground is essential, and missing.

I've been hesitating about contacting you about this, I don't want to seem like a demanding fan who takes these shows for granted. But now that the lines of communication are open, I think this would be a really cool thing to do.
I've never seen the pillows live in concert. And they've now screwed over the midwest.

...I think I hate the pillows.

I've seen the pillows live in concert. And their coming back to my town.

...I LOVE the pillows!

But I do feel bad for you guys, hopefully next time they will have a more expansive tour.

Where is the idea that this will be their last US tour coming from?

It isn't founded in reason, mate. It's just a fear of mine. I mean, they don't tour all that often, and their tours of the US are never very long. I've been a fan of the pillows for about 8 years now; the thought of never being able to see them live makes me kinda sad, is all.

Well first off, I'd just like to know why Chicago has been skipped this tour, as well as the two tours before that. I sent the label an e-mail with about 7 or 8 venues about the same size of the others located in Chicago. They have plenty of fans in the Midwest, and would easily sell out a venue like The Subterranean or The Empty Bottle. I flew out to Pomona for the show last year, but no way I am this year. At any rate, it seems like no more cities are being added for this tour, but maybe something to keep in mind for future tours.

I agree with what's been said about the set lists. A fan vote may be a god way to spread the word about the tour. Perhaps not for the whole set list of course, but maybe somewhere between 3 and 5 songs chosen by fans? I mean, let's take a look at the last two set lists. There's more than just FLCL songs here:

8/25
01.Doggie Howl
02.Mighty lovers
03.Rosy Head
04.Good Bye Present
05.Back seat dog
06.Lily, my sun
07.Calvero
08.Rookie Jet
09. Terminal Heaven's Rock

8/20
01.Advice
02.I think I can
03.Mr.Droopy
04.Instant Music
05.Comic Sonic
06.Funny Bunny
07.Fool on the planet
08.Kono yo no hate made
09.LAST DINOSAUR
10.Hybrid Rainbow
(encore)
11.POISON ROCK'N'ROLL

Plenty of songs I'd love to hear from these recent set lists. FOTP would be a dream come true, and I've been dying to hear Kono yo no hate made live. And you can sign me up for Backseat Dog and Mighty Lovers too. Are we to believe they're going to forget how to play these songs before they arrive in the US? At the very least, they should include some songs from there current sets at the US shows.

I would love to hear Foll on the planet!

the pillows need to know that some of their fans do fly in from different states to go see their shows! I was surprised to meet Marekenshin(New Jersey), and Son Goshin(Chicago) last year in California.

Prime songs for this tour. What do you guys think?
1. Swanky Street
2. Strange Chameleon
3. Fool on the planet
4. TRIP DANCER
5. Sono Mirai wa Ima

I stumbled upon this.
All ages............. sucks. really they do. They're just so....... fake. blech. that's the only way I can describe it. Like their music uses punk in the most superficial way possible, their lyrics aren't really convincing at all, and their ideas completely lack audacity, which is what makes punk good.
Please someone put this on a shirt and wear it to the concert.
