Thanks for everything to everyone. Shiroi Natsu was a slice of heaven.

I realized something. Their tone is always perfect. Not many bands achieve the same tones in studio and on stage.

How many Mp3 files were in that rip? I got 25, and it said my Kanojo wa Kyou was corrput, so I only got 24.

Also, is there a rip of the Lostman tour DVD up yet?

Wowwowwowwowwowwow...

I listened to the Lostman Tour THREE TIMES IN A ROW last night! I still can't believe that what I heard was the pillows, the energy captured in the songs was insane and yet the playing was hardly sloppy despite such performances. It easily surpasses 916 and Busters on the planet in my opinion. Each song was arguably the best rendition yet or very close to the very best rendition of them, especially songs like Wonderful Sight and Sleepy Head. To be frank I'd probably say those two songs are around there in my list of least favorite pillows songs and yet the way they performed those songs in the Lostman Tour is just wow...If they could capture that energy they had in the outro of Sleepy Head and put that all into a new song I could easily see that being my new favorite for quite some time to come.

The only things I would nit pick is that one Jun's bass signal could've been brought out a bit more in the mix. At first I thought it was my Skull Candies since they don't capture bass signals as nicely as my old Sonys but I was able to easily hear Jun's bass in the breakdowns of songs and when the bass is supposed to be highlighted so I'm thinking it was more the case of the way the DVD's audio was mixed. The other thing I'd nitpick is that I probably would've wanted a couple more older songs instead of Tokyo Bambi and Ladybird Girl since those two are already on the 2nd disc. But then again I definitely liked the versions of Tokyo Bambi and Ladybird Girl (especially Ladybird Girl) over the ones on the 2nd disc so I suppose it kind of evened things out. Other than that I'd rate all of the songs 6 out of 5s.

There were definitely though a lot of moments where I found myself wide-eyed and wondering "What the hell was that? How did Manabe just play that riff so cleanly but with such intensity?!". I've been thinking that ever since Manabe received his signature guitar he has really stepped up his playing. I was just so surprised at how he was cramming so many little extra riffs and other little nuances into these older songs like during the solo for Hybrid Rainbow, some of the stuff just felt so surreal that I really had to wonder how Manabe was managing to pull all this off. His guitar work on this disc really made these songs even more of a joy to listen to.

^A smidge yea, I think though I probably just missed the horns a little bit. Other than that I thought it was great to hear them play it and thought it sounded fantastic overall.

I think if they pull for more older songs I'd love to hear a new take on Ame ni Utaeba, Kono Mama Koko de, Sunday, Something Like A Romance, Okujou ni Obotte, Monochrome Lovers, and maybe even Kanojo wa Shisuta.

I have no idea what you're talking about. If anything, the HR solo sounded a little sloppy to me.

With the Lostman and Pied Piper tour, as the older songs are butted right up against the newer songs...
I think it's safe to say that Sawao needs to start writing songs with an acoustic. He needs to start being more like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TDX1n2xh3yQ
Writing songs that he could sing to couples on the beach or something, NOT funky little riffs with his electric. Melody was sort of OK, but then you compare it to like...Ice Pick, Midnight Down, Like a Lovesong, Trip Dancer, Tiny Boat...it's no contest.

These older songs had no gimmicks. Feel free to disagree, but it seems like if your song pop rock can be translated well to an acoustic guitar, then its foundations are solid, and it's something you can really build on. Sure I dig New Animal, but this new style the pillows have found doesn't lend itself to really..."opening" the songs up, with vocal melodies that complement the chords.

Don't misunderstand me - I'm not saying that basic straight-up rock songs like The Third Eye are necessarily bad, just because they don't translate well to an acoustic. Third Eye is one of my favorites. I'm just saying that a common thread that runs through this "golden age" of the pillows (in this particular case, Kool Spice to Little Busters) is that their foundations are all fucking rock solid. You can be a beginner guitar player, and as long as you can manage to make those chords and sing the melody, you're gonna have something good on your hands.

Not trying to be the jaded Buster, but does anyone else feel this way?

Mhm, yup, like WEST20. Songs that can be sung like that.
Of course though they have their good points. But songs like that wouldn't make busters pissed.

I'd like to hear the old take, with sawao's shitty perfect voice.

^Well mainly I've been ecstatic about this DVD because I pretty much have been feeling that the pillows latest fair just hasn't been doing it for me. A lot of the songs have been falling along the lines of "It's good but its not really exciting". For instance with songs like Rock 'n' Roll Sinners, YOUNGSTER (Kent Arrow), Mr. Droopy, and even to an extent Ladybird Girl I've just never been able to see the draw to them, in my opinion they have been seeming to just run together and feel too low-key (really can't explain it). The melodies are okay but there was just nothing exciting to them that really seemed to jump out at me. They just seem droll and the spark to them faded away pretty quick after I started to like them.

Although I will say that New Animal still holds its charm, there is just a vibrancy and jolt to it that makes it stand out to me. And its with this DVD that I start getting really hopeful, I really wasn't that crazy at all about Wake Up's DVD but this turned things around for me, especially with songs like Wonderful Sight and Sleepy Head I found myself asking myself "Is this the pillows? Where did all that energy come from?". In fact after this DVD I'd probably feel opposite to you and feel that the pillows should instead start to experiment with recording new songs in a live setting and with that live pillows feeling. If they were to try it like that and record with the energy they had on the DVD I'm positive that it would lend itself well to the music and bring about very good results. In fact I think they can still get things right with straight up rock songs as "Sweet Baggy Days" "Century Creepers" and "POISON ROCK'N'ROLL" definitely are straight up rock songs and at least in my opinion they show that the pillows can definitely tap into a lot of emotional depth in these types of songs and in fact if you look back even songs like "NO SELF CONTROL" and "Last Dinosaur" could definitely be viewed in this same light. I'm not saying that Sawao shouldn't start writing songs using an acoustic, in fact I'd highly agree that if he were to go that route the results would be just as outstanding. I'm just saying that there is more than one way they could approach things, I'm pretty sure the pillows have shown that their musical style has never been set in stone.

Agreed. There are also a few of the songs here that had an acoustic in them to begin with that don't translate quite as well into the style that they are playing at this show. Tiny Boat springs to mind. It was good to hear it live, but the actual version and the acoustic versions of the song do a lot more for me.
