Too off topic...
Umm...
Watching the PV more is getting me more and more into it. I love Manabe's new guitar. And the whole, how should I put this..."gloomy midnight" kinda feel is really cool. I especially love the utilization of the sillouettes(?).

I'd say it's more of a twilight (not just trying to make a pillows pun here). I also find it humorous with the whale at night. wtf, made me think of in kouen where he says "yoru no kujira yo," which means "the whale of night" or night whale. Also, there's Thunder Whales Picnic. I wonder what the significance of a whale is to Sawao?

I find that the pillows can put out some very creative and entertaining videos, and I think this one is among the best.

I find it humorous you're puzzled at the nightime part and not the fact that the whale is flying.
I think of it more as a dusk.

a "flying whale" is seen in a lot of places . Its always used in dreams or to represent an unknown future/past that may plague the mind with insecurities, instill hope in something that can't be proven without imperical evidence, or just simply a reason or goal to go on (for example: someone adding meaning to what he/she sees as a meaningless existance by devoting his life to chasing an imaginary whale that he/she knows, deep inside, he'll never find)
On another note, when flying whales comes to mind I keep of thinking about my brother's roomate talking about this anime called Macross 7 (an old anime) where the main character's plane is painted red with the blood of a flying whale and shortly afterwards the main character writes a song about it (cause apparrently he's not only a giant robot pilot, he's a rock star as well).

Or, maybe Manabe convinced Sawao that Bob Marley fucking rocks.

it's pretty sad how the pillows keep lowering our standards with each new release.

Jesus Christ. We ALL KNOW by now how you feel about the current state of the pillows. Posting the same damn thing in every topic is just so annoying.
Sorry if I'm out of line, but jeez, no wonder why I don't post here more.
Actually, we don't all know, and I'm guessing you don't even have any idea who you're talking, judging by the stereotypical reaction that seems to be referring to culen rather than awpjudy or zenkalia. And I guess not liking the pillows new releases is the same thing as not liking the pillows in general.... right.
Anyway, this didn't really need to be said. Mods, lock this tiopic and ban rika_chou

Lulz. Sorry clouds, but I'm leaving this open. I do agree, though, that we need not bite the head off anyone who criticizes the pillows' recent work. A lot of us feel it is lacking. Many of us love it. It is perfectly okay to state a different opinion.
Everyone's opinion is worth shit, and, therefore, equal, at least on matters of music preference. Let's not be hostile toward each other over such a trivial matter. :]

And to think, I thought I actually successfully derailed that stupid argument.
I should have known better.

It was a valiant effort, but now let's all let it go. Everyone can post their opinions. If you love every new release, you have the right to say so. If you hate every new release and are more disappointed each time, you can state that, too. Just try to respect the others on the board in stating your opinion.
On-topic: what do you guys think the whale thing has to do with the song? Does Sawao just really fucking love animals?

I found gekigangar's post interesting. Where did you find that information?
