Unfooooortunately...Judy's right.
Either he smoked it away, or he's scared of Sawao giving him the belt for playing a blue note.

Re: the pillows 20th Anniversary Overload! New Releases
Never going to happen, but I'd really like to hear a song along the lines of one of my favorites, Nowhere. Get that quasi-psychedelic, wah-fuzz lead with a nice, clean verse.

New PV for Funny Bunny is up in case you haven't seen:

The video is all right, but I still prefer the original recording of the song.

It sounds over-produced to me, it's as if Sawao cloned himself repeatedly and they all sang in perect unison.
I'm not all that fond of that "I love you" bit at the start, either.

I love that "I love you funny bunny!" clip! Not much to say, it's just a fun bonus to give Funny Bunny a PV. Yes, things definitely sound different from the original, and I could easily see most people preferring the original, but I really don't think it's that big of a deal. Be happy.

Re: the pillows 20th Anniversary Overload! New Releases
Is it me or did they speed this version up slightly? Sawao's vocals in this sound pretty damned good though, hearing the whole song. However, not a big fan of the "I love you" part either, and the tone of the guitars and drums are definitely sharper, and almost overpower the bass, which was the reason for the season for me on the original. All of those negatives combine into one big one which is that the tenderness of the original is downplayed, if not absent.

Re: the pillows 20th Anniversary Overload! New Releases
My big thing with this song is that the guitars sound weird to me in the chorus for some reason, like the strum pattern is different or something. It could be a combination of my laptop speakers and youtube though. We'll see how it is when we get rips of it I guess. The Swanky Street preview on the site sounded way more promising than this one did to start with though, so hopefully that turns out well.

Re: the pillows 20th Anniversary Overload! New Releases
Ive just kinda skimmed this thread, so sorry if this is a little off topic.
but on the note of Sawao's voice changing over time, it is most definitely smoking.
Singers smoke before a concert to deaden their voice, decreasing their chances of going out of tune while singing.
the singer from the walkmen just uses bbq sauce, it's just as effective. lol.

Re: the pillows 20th Anniversary Overload! New Releases
It sounds alright to me. I'm not treating it as blasphemous to the original or anything - The Rock Stock versions, from the little we've heard apart from Funny Bunny, really just seem like studio takes that draw on how they perform the songs live nowadays. It's something completely different from, say, what Turn Back was.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OnBVeVlVd3c This guy just posted a collection of audio clips from the Rock Stock album. I Want To Be Salivan sounds AWESOME. I'm also loving the way Manabe's guitar sounds on One Life. The Strange Chameleon vocals are pretty good, but they seem to be missing something. Swanky Street... <3 I wish it didn't cut off. I really wanted to hear the "Kuwarete mo iin daaaaa"

Re: the pillows 20th Anniversary Overload! New Releases
Hmm...there wasn't really much of a difference with Swanky Street or Strange Chameleon. I will say though, that One Life sounded pretty bad. And I'm really jazzed that Propose and Droopy are on a Best-Of comp.

Its like the same song. What did you expect it to sound like? Its just a short clip, I'm sure you'll think otherwise when it comes out. Hybrid Rainbow fucking blew me away I also wish that Swanky Street didn't cut off...
