well if you guys were in line waiting, i was the crazy guy screaming "CIGARTTES!! CIGARETTS FOR SALE!!!"
yes, im the dark dude with the blazer and the hat.
and one of my favorite things that sawao said was
" new york hotels very very expensive. and full of mosqito. i get many mosqito bite." and then he commented that he was the only one who got bit in the room. because he was very "popular"
that was priceless
Camio, as much as its fun to jump around and get into the music, the reason a lot of us traveled from hours away was to see them play. Granted, the crowd was more "tame" then I expected, but I enjoyed it that way.
We all sang along, raised our fists, cheered and danced a little. Some individuals I noticed (and they are at every show) go nuts to virtually every song as if they have to out do others. There was one kid there who was having a spaz attack the entire show, so much so that I don't understand how he could even enjoy the show cause he was never even looking and most likely not really listening. Might as well be at home listening to a CD.
To each their own, but to be really into the music and the band you dont have to consistently be going nuts... I wanted to watch them play and enjoy the show, not be the show. But of course, I'm singing along just as much as anyone else.
a few clarifications since I am one of those people that goes nuts alot.
-we're not trying to outdo you
-we go nuts BECAUSE its live.
-The Pillows have such an energetic performance we feed off their energy
-We dont get to jump around and rock out when we're listening to them in most every day scenarios. But we want to.
-Live music is a visceral thing, not only are you hearing the music, but the vibrations are vibrating your body. You dont get that experience at home without an amazing sound system.
-different people react differently to music. One person might raise an eyebrow and say "cool" to a cool lick, another person might shudder and clench their fist.
I cant vouch for all crazy people. But I can say. If I feel my elbow or anything hit someone else, I immediatly stop and apologize. If there are smaller kids or girls there that are not going as crazy I will try to take extra care not to hit them.
dont call people inconsiderate/shallow just because they enjoy the show differently than you.

Definitely true, but people should try to have some bit of common decency at a concert (i.e. don't be a total dick about it, like trying to push into the people in the front during every single fucking song, especially if you're the only one doing so, don't punch/elbow people, etc)
It was 90's My Life the dude yelled out...Sawao shook his head no and laughed, it was a funny moment.
Haha, I was wondering what got Sawao to say "too old." I let out an audiable "Awww..."
The crowd at the NY show seemed fine to me. There were a couple people who were a little overly crazy, but most of the mosher-types I saw around toned it down when people around them weren't digging it.
Again, though, I was all for going crazy during the second encore after like half the floor had left and only the "FUCK YEAH BLUES DRIVE MONSTER" crowd was left.
MOD EDIT: No doubleposting buddy. Love, mare.

Does anyone actually intentionally punch/elbow people? I mean, that's just poor taste.
As far as pushing goes, that is acceptable. Especially against the people in front.

At the SF show, there was some like 13 year old kid behind me that from the second half of the show on pushed CONSTANTLY during every single song, and only stopped every now and then when I gave him a nice, full body shove back and almost knocked him off his feet a few times. He wasn't even trying to push between people to get closer, he was just pushing me forward. I probably wouldn't have minded much, but I was holding the press back because of the fact that my girl had hurt her back the other day and I was wanting to make sure she was okay and enjoyed the show, but either way, you don't have to push during every song, and you don't need to push forward just to push, especially if you're a pussy little 13 year old lol.
Also hilarious was his dad (a rather fat, short hispanic man) being there and yelling at me at one point "HEY THAT'S MY SON YOU'RE PUSHING, YOU BETTER WATCH IT OR I'LL KICK YOUR ASS."

I'd intentionally punch/elbow you. But that's only because I know you'd return the favor.

I double posted? On a crappy PC at work so I guess I might have messed up something.
Did they play the slow opening version of Hybrid Rainbow anywhere in the states? I was really disappointed they didn't play it that way.
Edit: Also bums me out that stuff like New Animal and Century Creepers (ESPECIALLY CC) didn't get more of a reaction from the crowd. I mean, even if you're an FLCL-head and you've never heard Century Creepers before, how can you hear it - live - and not think "holy hell that rocked"??
I was tempted to start singing that last slow bit from Fool on the Planet when the crowd was cheering for an encore to see if anybody else would join in but decided against it.
Edit edit: Anybody understand what the hell the lyrics to Mr Droopy were?

People enjoy shows in different ways... unfortunately, some of these ways involve stepping on other people's toes.
Since we're all griping... I personally don't enjoy being pushed/shoved by strangers, or having cameras/arms almost in my face because somebody had to stick their arm up above the crowd a good view of the stage (for a snapshot, okay, no big deal, but somebody did this to me once to get a video of an entire song...).

I saw them, but dismissed them since they looked like bimbos.
plus there were cuter girls in the crowd than those three that didnt look like bimbos.

Basically, what you're saying, is that you and I would have a great time together at a show.
Anyway, Mare, you should have kicked his ass! Another rule is that it's totally okay to abuse annoying 13 year olds!

I'm not gonna make a long report about this, but man the show was awesome. I GOT TO SEE CENTURY CREEPERS FUCKING LIVE. Also two new songs! The only problem was that there were these two emo teenagers standing next to me commenting on how much they thought noodles sucked. I thought noodles was great. Also, I didn't get to meet the pillows. Anyway, great show. Also, MyFoot, sorry you couldn't find me. I was way up front, so that might've been part of the reason you couldn't find me. Sorry.

Hey guys, yeah the show was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. Not only did I get to see The Pillows, but this was my first concert ever (I know I'm so cool right?)
Believe it or not, I heard of The Pillows from a website where I get most of my music, and the first album I heard from them was Wake Up! x3. Yeah I had no clue they did the FLCL soundtrack. But now my appreciation from them has increased a ten-fold.
As for the opening act, Noodles were very good. And Yoko was rather cute-looking (she was right in front of me ).
Anyways, to everyone who I met at the show, it was nice meeting you. And hopefully I'll have off from college the next time they come to the US.

Just pushing people for no reason whatsoever. They didn't come near me for a while after I elbowed them in the ribs though ^_-
and some girl got really pissed of becasue people from behind were pushing, and she thought i was doing it on purpose. She actually launched a punch at me, but i dodged it. She tried to kick some little fat guys ass too I felt sorry for the guy becasue he was so scared. She was bigger and buffer that he was
