Oh...my...freaking...God! "Sayonara Universe (Spacy Baroque)" is extremely well-done. If someone mixes this with the original version, it would be one of the greatest songs ever! After hearing the original, I always thought it would be awesome for the pillows to perform it with the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra. This just about blows my imagination away!
"Gazelle City (The Atomic Age)" sounds like something they play at Avalon Boston. The first 45 seconds turned me off; but once the song gets going it sounds trippy and fun.
All in all, I enjoyed it more than I thought I would.
GC: TAA - B
SU: SB - A
Now can someone mix the two "Sayonara Universe"s together please?

It's good 'n all, but Yoshiaki focused on the lyrics this time around, its a very important song to him, as well as Gazelle city. Which is why he made the choice for the single.
you speak as if you have insider knowledge...
Good Dreams, oh yeeeeeeeaaauhhhhhh......
EDIT: Alright, the album isn't mediocre at all. It's just mediocre when compared to their other work.

Replacing the guitar and bass parts with fake string instruments isn't something that qualifies as well-done. The only thing that's good about this version of the song is the general idea of doing it with strings. Sorry, but this is half-assed shit.
I do understand, however, that this is not their "new direction" or anything like that. It still sucks, though, and it could have been awesome. One need only look at the two versions of MY GIRL to see that they could have done much better.

I don't even think Nine Miles and the Gazelle City single are comparable in terms of quality. We know that Manabe is capable of much more.

finally heard gazelle city single
i like both of them. and i cant relaly judge them seeing they are remixes and chances are the originals are better in most cases of remixes (in my experience)
but yeh, i like them both, diff kind of remix than what manabe has done before

I meant overlap both tracks together so both are in synch; mixing the electric guitars with the "string" instruments. And yeah I was sad when I realized they weren't real string instruments. Shame they couldn't get a real orchestra to do it.

The vocals actually don't line up. It'd take some more creative cutting an rearranging; this ain't no simple overlap job.

I really didn't like this. At all. Both the songs seemed really unnecessary. Like they were doing remixes for the hell of it.
But man, that's still one hell of a cover.

Yeah, that's pretty much the only thing I was hyped about. Scans of the cover. And do we have any?
No.
edit: nevermind :D
