I never checked out the scene in America, but this sounds pretty much right about Japan.
In America, you can get pretty much every album on vinyl, and most of them are always in print.
Every LP that I have purchased so far have all been limited releases.
Same here, pretty much. I buy a lot of vinyl from Japan and only a handful of them aren't limited releases (some Ging Nang Boyz singles and albums, and now the first three Blue Hearts records). It genuinely sucks because if I find out about a record some time after it's already been released on vinyl, store stock will be gone and I have to resort to paying significantly inflated prices on Yahoo Auctions.

That's why I'd be worried if The Pillows do a large-scale vinyl reissue: if I can't get 'em all for the store price close to release day, I'll probably have to pay a lot more later on for the ones I don't have.

In all seriousness, though, I doubt that Pillows vinyl is coming. That picture sparked up a glimmer of hope, but really, it was almost certain that those oversized album covers were just promo props.

It would only happen if the band or the label pushed for it, and Sawao strikes me as neither the type to be overly anal retentive about releasing their material on SUPEIREIU ANAROG FORMAT, nor the type to do it for nostalgia or sentimentality. They don't do much with their back catalogue at all really, the last time they did a compilation was what, Rock Stock like 8 years ago? And the closest thing they've ever done to a "box set" was Lostman Go To Yesterday which was like 10 years ago and which frankly wasen't even a "best of" set.

Agreed, the band doesn't strike me as being big on vinyl, especially considering that they've never put out so much as a 7" over the course of their entire career. Closest they ever came was with cassette promos for their first two albums.

Still, it could be raised as a very profitable thing to do for their 30th anniversary. I really do wonder what they'll be doing for that in 2019.

There's a lot they could have done for their last ~3 big anniversaries and honestly I doubt this time will be any different.

I'm grateful we've gotten some DVD's and demo CD's out of them but something like a digipak box set of the "holy trinity" would be great. Could throw in a book with new interviews and a retrospective look back at the material, maybe dig up some demos to include on a bonus CD, a spread with bigger photos of the band pictures that appeared in the LB/RH/HB linear notes, etc.

Honestly, I'd peg Manabe for a vinyl guy...he seems pretty into pro audio and producing/the studio stuff. I'd doubt if he doesn't appreciate an analog set up.

This'd be a good time for the original versions of "Future" and "Liberty" to come out.

The results for the official homepage ticket lottery were announced last night. I entered for a ticket for the opening show in Shibuya and the final in Odaiba. I was chosen for the final, so now I am definitely going to this tour; no more worrying about missing tickets. :shred:
I'm still gonna try to go to the first show in Shibuya. General ticket sales start on 09/30. I'm weaselin' my way into that venue for sure.

General ticket sales started today and it was brutal. The second sales went live, all 3 of the ticket sites crashed due to heavy access. A minute later, the entire tour had sold out.

I have my ticket for the final show of the tour, at least. My friends weren't as lucky. I think I'm finally gonna join the fan club. Members get priority on purchasing tickets.

Well, they're not mainstream popular but they have a very solid fanbase and this tour is them performing two classics in their entirety, so...

Exceptional show tonight, and we're not even at the 3rd Movement Tour yet.
