Your selective quoting kind of left out the key part of my criticism, which is that this song was an uninteresting way of using the progression. You can use a standard pop chord progression as the basis for a song, and actually add interesting ideas to it. Here, the standard chord progression and other cliches are basically all that's there. Which is just plain sad from a songwriting perspective, and just plain dull from a listening perspective. I've heard this song before, Sawao.

Pretty much my main criticism with Heaven't Pinhole and Answer. Though I enjoy them both somewhat... I'm not gonna be the guy the defending them, by any means.

But more seriously, yeah. I think that's the sort of problem most of us have with a lot of Sawao's/the pillows' recent stuff. So many songs have the same weak-ass architecture and very little to set them apart from one another.

Well, your point about it being a pretty straightforward song isn't something I would argue against, and complaining about any chord progression as being overused is just silly on its face, so what was I supposed to crack a joke about?

Also, I'm amused by your claim that you knew how the song was going to go just based off of hearing how the verse chord progression goes. To be able to guess properly the short transition prechorus AND the specific chord progression for the chorus, not to mention the solo, from just that bit, you must be a god among men. Since the solo cut off, could you give us a preview of the rest?

Not at all, notice that I said nothing about your disliking the song or finding it boring. I simply highlighted the silly parts of your post, mostly out of boredom and an attempt to be funny. Carry on.

You didn't highlight the silly parts of his post, you highlighted parts of his post to make him look silly.

I really don't understand the difference here. He said some silly things, I pointed them out. Anyone claiming the things that he claimed is seriously exaggerating (other than, as mentioned, the parts that were valid opinion and not just being cunty about what he doesn't like).

But it's not an exaggeration: the standard progression was not used in a remotely original, inventive, or [i]interesting[/i] way here, and the song has nothing else to stand on. No interesting guitar lead, no surprises whatsoever from the vocal melody, chorus, or song structure, just nothing. That's my complaint, and it was pretty clear in the original post.
