Re: pillows Bootlegs
If we gather together as much knowledge as we can about what's out there it will be a decent site. Let's make sure all recordings are available in the best quality to all who want them.
The real challenge will be getting things organized well. Lots of things don't have dates on them.
Nevertheless, we'll list things in chronological order. The things that don't have dates on them could be given an estimate as to what year they were recorded, and lumped together at the end of the list for that year (ex. 1999.xx.xx).
More thoughts: -Screen shots on pages for videos. Less confusion that way (ex. Oh yeah, that one. I have that one already). -Give credit to original uploaders, if they are known, and if they want.
Thoughts?

Re: pillows Bootlegs
I'd like to contribute in some way. I could take the lead on putting the site together if/when we're ready.

Re: pillows Bootlegs
Those all sound like good ideas, Rockman. I'm not sure how we should go about crediting original uploaders, though. A lot of these have been going around for years and I can't remember the name of the guy I downloaded the full sets from to save my life.
Also, how should we go about uploading these? Should we use some streaming site where people can listen to them from there or links for actual download? I'd like to start uploading some of my stuff.

Re: pillows Bootlegs
@Ladybirdgirl: That sounds great. And yeah, we're not ready just yet. There are many decisions left to be made.
@Mafu: If we don't know the original uploader it's whatever. That can just be by request.
I hadn't considered using a streaming site. I personally would prefer a download site for hardcore fans to build an archive of files. I assume most people would prefer downloads over streaming for audio. Video may be another story. We could make a poll.
I was thinking about using something like Mediafire. I don't know if there are any decent DDL sites anymore. Anybody?
Notes: -uploading to Youtube/other streaming websites can (will?) result in loss of quality. -if you are unsure about the air date of a TV performance, you might be able to find it on the website of the channel it aired on. For example I found the air dates of a couple of Music Japan videos on NHK's website (actually a Wayback Machine archive, since the actual site didn't go back far enough with air dates).
I'm thinking files should be renamed to add a date at the beginning. I usually use a format like this: "YYYY.MM.DD - name". Thoughts? We don't want to start uploading and then decide that things should have been labeled differently.
I don't want to upload official releases except maybe the ones that aren't in print anymore (e.g. bonus DVDs). Thoughts? Opinions? Much feedback is encouraged.

Re: pillows Bootlegs
I think these are awesome ideas, and it is EXACTLY what I've envisioned. I don't have a lot of time right now, but later tonight I'll come back, maybe complie a list of people that want to do this and maybe get the ball rolling. Perhaps Terra can host it on the server here, or maybe we can make our own site and just have it link here? This could really be a great resource for fans, both foreign and domestic, especially if we get the hometown Japanese fanbase to contrib ute once we get this thing live and going.
I don't have a lot of time right now, but later tonight I'll come back, maybe complie a list of people that want to do this and maybe get the ball rolling.
That's a good idea. Mediafire is no good for sharing anymore. But Sharebee still exists: http://www.sharebee.com/Here's a thought: maybe we could just collect data on the videos (i.e. set list, generation, screen shots, etc) and put only that on the site. Uploads can then be posted on the site by request, since even Sharebee might delete files after 60 days of inactivity (according to their FAQ). I need feedback on this: Do we rename files so that they can stay in chronological order after being downloaded OR leave them as-is and let people do with them as they please? We could rename them and then on the site we could write: "Distributed as: originalfilename.avi"

Re: pillows Bootlegs
I think we should leave the files in the best possible quality we can get them (e.g. FLAC/WAV and HQ avis etc) and if anyone wants an mp3 I'm sure most of us can quickly convert it for upload upon request.

Re: pillows Bootlegs
I've been way too busy with work lately, but I have NOT forgotten about this. I'm talking with ladybird Girl right now trying to get this thing started. First things, I definitely say rename files to make it easier to keep in chronological order, It'll be easier for documentation, which is what this site would be about. Also, not a big fan of Sharabee, I'm thinking we can use something different. perhaps Archive.org, although I'm not sure what their uploading policy is.
Also Rockman, while I like your idea about collecting all data including videos, set lsits, etc., the bootlegs are obviously crucial. The audio is the entire lynchpin of this whole project, so we'll make it happen somehow. Just need some time, and would love to hear more ideas from you guys. Really hoping we can get a domain or something to get the site/blog/whatever it is going by the end of the month.

So it will be a list of what's out there until a request is made.

If you are lurking this thread and you like or dislike any ideas, feel free, encouraged, threatened (jklolol) to post your thoughts. The more feedback we get the more I, for one, will be willing to do to make this happen.
Minimally we could have a thread where we each post a list of what we have, and simply upload by request. That could at least get the ball rolling.

Man, remember that 'video killed the radio star" cover sawao did?
I was forgetting about it and just a few days ago I woke up and had an urge to listen to it. I love it.

Re: pillows Bootlegs
I like the idea of having a website for pillows bootlegs. We might get a chance to listen some of their unreleased songs from those venues like NEVER ON AIR and FUTURE or early versions of already released songs like Beautiful Picture.
It can also help to clear up of what songs were omitted from the live DVDs.
