Post Re: New US Pillows Tour. (Seattle date confirmed)
the drivelling fan boys are whoever is at front and feels entitled to their position because they got there early, and feels being up close is important for no reason I can think of other than to be as close to the pillows as possible.
Wrong again, you are just on a roll of terrible, bullshit stupid comments about this stuff. The people who wait in line to get a good spot at the front want to have AS GOOD A VIEW AS POSSIBLE OF ONE OF THEIR FAVORITE BANDS. The ones who just want to be as close to the band because it's the pillows, that awesome FLCL band, are generally immature assholes (American teenagers, fuck youuuuuuuuu) and not really TRUE pillows fans. True fucking pillows fans are there to support a band they love and enjoy great music together, not selfishly shove and slam their way through the crowd just to be close to somebody famous.

Also, your attitude of "we the minority are having our fun no matter what it does to anybody else, so why can't you just enjoy it too despite us literally detracting from everything you like about this show, such as being able to enjoy the music without worries of your girlfriend being punched/kicked if you can't keep us assholes at bay" makes you come across as a borderline sociopath with little to no actual people skills.

Post Re: Moshing at pillows shows
So I love how this thread is pretty much just snipped off the end of the US Tour thread.

There are other ways to participate in the show too. Singing works well. I'm not opposed to jumping around a bit, dancing, or that sort of thing either. I still want to be at the front of a pillows show because I freakin' love the pillows. Pure and simple. I don't expect to be fighting off a mosh pit at a pillows show. There's a kind of show where that is expected, and (at least to me) the pillows are not that sort of band.

^Majority opinion right there, methinks. For non-douchebags, anyway. In Japan, it's all just jumping up and down/fist-pumping, singing along (though they actually have a sort of debate about that similar to how we dislike moshing; some people don't mind and some hate when people "do karaoke" the whole show), and some dancing.

For the record, no moshing at the NYC show. Not much crowd pressure either, although previous shows were more intense. Overall, it was pretty chill. Maybe you guys are just out of control in the West.

There was moshing on the far left side of the crowd, where I was. But it was a pretty light mosh, even for pillows standards (going on what I've heard.)

You couldn't even see most of the crowd from where you were at, and as mentioned, we had a very tame side composed of a lot of hardcore fans chilling together. The middle, as mentioned multiple times, had a shitton of pushing and shoving going on (tons of crowd pressure). Literally, I was pretty much at the edge of it for the second half of the pillows' set, so don't try telling me there wasn't much shoving going about. My sore body begs to differ. :(

It's possible. At previous Seattle show at Club Motor, the crowd actually *pushed* the stage back a bit. Like, made it physically move. :shred:  :dead:

The SF show was pretty tame, but I hear the LA one was pretty bad.

lol

And I had a pretty good survey of the crowd - definitely tame. Pressure? Sure - but otherwise is physically impossible.

Pushing, shoving, elbows in sides as people tried to force their way through. I'd say that all of these are more than pressure.

Yeah, I was back and to the right about four bodies from you guys, so I had a better view of the middlers. Not too bad, I mostly saw them push and retreat in a steady rhythm, like waves. A couple goofballs throwing their everythings in random directions but it seemed like at least a fairly well mannered crowd of dancers. I was only forced to jump a couple times early on, which is fun to do anyways. I choked on some snot during instant music and had to disengage from the song for a little bit, but that was pretty much the only real moment of discomfort.

When my wristband arm got tired, I switched wrists! ^_^

So I just got back from another show at El Corazon, and the strangest thing happened. (Context: I was seeing Kamelot, a symphonic power metal band, with some friends.) So, given that it was a metal band at a metal venue, naturally 95% of the crowd was full of headbanging metalheads. Now, guess what? There was no moshing whatsoever.

So, to recap: Pacific Northwest pillows fans apparently mosh to the noodles, but Pacific Northwest metal fans don't mosh to Kamelot.

What. The. Fuck.

But for real. This isn't a demonstration of machismo. I just don't know how else to express that the NYC show was about as manageable as it gets for standing room.
