If you mean 'Across the Metropolis', I thought that was one of the best songs from that period.

Totally agreed; in fact, I think it's hands-down the best one. As for the new release, something tells me it's going to be better than OOPARTS (which is not a hard task, IMO).

Are you kidding me?! I CARE! Because this is one of my favorite bands! I don't want to see the pillows fizzle out into mediocrity and all around crappiness. I want to see this band put out more amazing, well thought out music, not build a discography in which the back end is garbage. It's just a title, I can't judge it yet, I just hope that it's good. Also, Ameagari was one of the best songs by the pillows in the last half of the decade. Friggin love that song.

Re: [2010.12.01] MOVEMENT - New Single
Somebody's gonna like like it, even if not all of us do. Spike likes Go! Go! Jupiter, while I think it's kind of annoying. I like Ame Ga Futtekita You Na Ki Ga Suru, while many others likely think it's crap. The style of the pillows these last few years might not sit so well with some, but it's clearly working for a whole lot of other people. Music doesn't need to be so complex and intricate to still sound good, and the pillows are proof of that. Also, I like Rodeo Star Mate.

I liked Rodeo Star Mate too. I am willing to wait a long time for the next album, if that means it will be better than OOPARTS. It's already been said, but the extra time may improve the overall reception of their new stuff among this crowd.
I want another song like Primer Beat.
Tokyo Bambi, Ameagari ni Mita Maboroshi, Rodeo Star Mate. Should I bother crossing my fingers anymore? I'm totally aware of my troll/jedipunk-like disposition. I know. I'm not trying to be a dick though. I'm just highly aware that we're living in a post-OOPARTS world.
This. Last we heard was Rodeo Star Mate, which put the death knell in the "at least the singles are still good" argument. The single might still be good, but let's put it this way: I'll probably forget that it's even coming out until someone from the forums reminds me on a messenger.

OOParts was a great album, Pied Piper was better, WUx3 was ok, My foot was great. I dont get this cynicism.

Sad Fad Love was tight, I don't know why everybody on this forum bitches incessantly about the pillows putting out pretty solid tracks with a few mediocre ones every now and then.

Re: [2010.12.01] MOVEMENT - New Single
I certainly don't hate it. I do listen to it occasionally. But it shouldn't have been a single.
When it came out, at first glance it seemed fine. The video was very good. I feel I'm a bit more predisposed than most to looking for the positives in new things and holding on to them, and it takes me a little longer than most to determine if there is anything I dislike. It's a creative little doodle of a song but it just doesn't wear the hat of a single very well. Sad Fad Love, I don't know, it's alright I guess.
The songwriting just isn't all there for me. It has peppy charm coming out the ass in that intro and first verse but the chorus doesn't have a strong presence. It comes across sounding like a continuation of the verse. "Where's the beef?" Then it's like a starter pistol fires with the solo and the song just SPRINTS towards the finish ass over tin can.
The song is a happy little sashay in place but not quite what it could have been. So, I'm concerned about Movement because it may have the same trappings of Rodeo star mate and the lesser songs on Ooparts. I want it to be substantial. I want to feel like there is a cohesive album around the corner. But it is hard to imagine that going by everything Sawao has put out in the past year or so. Just hoping for the best of someone is much harder to do when you aren't sure that person knows what's best anymore.
Across the metropolis is alright but that's really all I can say about it. Not the best on Pied Piper, not terribly interesting live.

You can't change the way they play a chorus, or intro, or chord. They make the songs, they distribute it, we collect, and either enjoy or hate. Sure you can protest and try to talk to them by sending them emails to the record label and maybe you might get a small response. I'm just emphasizing the attitude IM (in general) has shown toward these new releases.

I REALLY, REALLY don't get why the fuck ANYBODY here would say they hate OOPARTS in its entirety. Give all the tracks a real fucking listen, for fuck's sake.

Re: [2010.12.01] MOVEMENT - New Single
OOParts has songs that I will always go back to listen to on it, including Beyond the Moon and Ameagari.
I really can't say I'm optimistic or pessimistic... I'm just going to take it. I see no point in mulling over the quality of the single. I've enjoyed some of the more recent ones, and yes, Rodeo Star Mate seemed like it was on a whim (and it shows, the single has thus far failed to outsale Ride on Shooting Star, as opposed to every other single from the past three years), so hopefully Movement will pick up where Ameagari ni mita Maboroshi left off.
