Re: One Life
LOL! Wow, I can't believe someone actually thought that was an Oasis ripoff. They do not sound the same. Wow, heh, I'm glad I got a laugh. It's even funnier because the pillows are better than Oasis in every conceivable fashion.

You ought to stop being an ass.
Why, because I'm pointing out an evident, even though slight, similarity between two songs? If I'm being an ass, then you're being too narrowminded to tell the difference.
Why, because I'm pointing out an evident, even though slight, similarity between two songs?
First off, you were not pointing out a potential slight similarity between two songs. You were implying that there was even a slight chance that one of them was a ripoff of the other, and you continued to do so even after it had been demonstrated to you how completely asinine that suggestion was. However, that's okay - that doesn't make you an ass. What makes you an ass is calling someone (in this case, Son Goshin) an ass without provocation, for no identifiable purpose other than your own mental ineptitude.
If I'm being an ass...
At this point, there is no "if" involved.
then you're being too narrowminded to tell the difference.
What does that even mean? Tell the difference between what? Stop being a dumbass. I suggest you apologize and get your act together, and we will forget all about this.

Re: One Life
What exactly did you demonstrate? That songs usually have the same style, and therefore certain similarities should be dismissed? That's hardly a proven point. One Life is my favorite Pillows song, but at the same time I'm being objective in stating that Sawao might have copied its melody from Don't Look Back In Anger. That doesn't make me love the song less, but it's a fact I cannot disregard, which in contrary, you are.
Moreover, why I used that tone of language towards Son Goshin was because I found his post implicitly ironic regarding the subject I brought up in this topic, and therefore, offensive. But if it makes you feel better, I apologize for calling him an ass.

chord progression does not equal melody. Also, you can't really "steal" a chord progression, unless it's some really unique free jazz fusion bullshit.

Or if the chords constitute a melody or riff, such as in "Jessie's Girl."
But yeah, that's also irrelevant to this discussion in particular.
