Re: Favorite Solos
Swanky Street - Probably my favorite pillows song in general, thanks in no small part to the awesome solo midway through it. Happy Slave - I'd like this a lot more if the song didn't descend into nearly atonal chaos and insanity at the end of it, but the bit from about 2:48 to 2:58 is such an absolutely fantastic 10 seconds of melody that I love it anyway. There's a lot of other Manabe solos that I love, but I'd be here all day if I listed all of them. The two solos in Carnival, especially the second one, especially especially when he goes up an octave. Even in some of their more recent work there are some solos I really dig...I like how Frontiers' solo keeps going for another bar when it sounds like Sawao's going to start singing again, I like Skinny Blues (even the "shredding" part that everyone seemed to bitch about), etc. You guys have already covered a lot of the other great solos, anyway, so I'll quit now.

Re: Favorite Solos
Swanky Street is a great song but, I'm not very partial to the solo, myself... Here are some notable mentions that I didn't list in OP: Bran-New Lovesong (the pillows' most heart-felt solo ever imo) No Surrender (THE BEST solo from the pillows' new stuff) We Have A Theme Song (What is there to be said? We have a theme song.) Kimi To Futari (Am I in JC Penny's?)

Re: Favorite Solos
Right here like this- I'm amazed nobody listed this one, the first time I heard it my mind had an orgasm then exploded.
Sono mirai wa ima.
My foot- Cool when you use headphones, then you can remove one ear bud and gain a new perspective on the solo.
Tiny boat.
One life.
Just right off the top of my head.
二人=ふたり(futari)
Yea, I noticed Sawao says "Kimi to Futari" in the song. But "Kimi to Ni Nin" is what it said in the discography I downloaded, so I didn't know. =\

My Foot, Last Dinosaur, Carnival, and Terminal Heaven's Rock. I love how in the PV for that song, Sawao actually goes off stage and eats a steak while Manabe plays his solo.

My favorite solos are Swanky Street, Kanojo Wa Kyou, and Lesser Hamster no yuutsu.

Re: Favorite Solos
Are we talking about the manabe-san portion of the solo, or about soloes where not only the guitar, but other instruments contribute to the awesomeness? In either case, it's tough, but I'm sure that there are numerous ones that are great.
bokura no hare suisei, swanky street, kanojyo wa kyou, lesser hamster in blue, etc etc.. the discography is filled with so many good solos.

It's Manabe-sama.
Unless you're trying to make a point, as exemplified above, using Japanese honorifics in English is just plain silly - unless we're talking instant ramen brands.

I was asking if by soloes the OP meant the lead guitar, and not the solo as a whole. For instance, I like the solo in One Life because the bass and drums both have weight, while in something like shiroi natsu, it relies heavily on the lead guitar as the bread n' butter

Re: Favorite Solos
Even though I don't think anyone will agree, I think the solo in Voice is actually really cool. As for a favorite, that's really tough. I'll try and narrow it down to a few that really stand out: Swanky Street Moon is Mine No Self Control Last Dinosaur I Think I Can No particular order; these stand out the most right now, though I could probably think of others that are just as good if I thought a little harder.

Speaking of it.. it just happened . How hard is it to pull off that solo actually? I mean the one from Sono Mirai Wa Ima.
