I don't know, guys. I took a listen and Wonderful Sight is incredibly similar to Ripcord. The chord progression and timing between lines are ridiculously close to one another. Like, even the little solo in-between is nearly the same. Give it a listen and you'll really hear it.

I listened them too, and they are very similar. But I'm still betting on incidence, because they are both pretty straight forward rock music and uses mainly three major chords, probably varying them at time to time.
And even they are structurally similar, they are emotionally quite different. Maybe Sawao had that song unconsiously in his head while composing Wonderful Sight?

I think they sound so similar because it seems like both songs are heavily influenced by the Pixies. The dynamics are similar to Tame, Something Against You, and U-Mass. While the basic cord progression is similar to songs like U-Mass, Alec Eiffel, and Something Against You.
So, knowing that both were heavily influenced by the Pixies especially during the times both songs/albums were released, I wouldn't say it's far fetched.

 wonderful sight = ripcord
honestly. we already know that Sawao isnt bashful about throwing his influences around. Throwing a really cool song that was made off the inspiration of another song and thus sounds like the other song as a b-side of a single, doesnt make a band worse.
especially when your song is better radiohead is a great band, but when I hear wonderful sight, it sounds like what ripcord could have been but just wasnt aggressive enough. Wonderful sight to me was invented by radiohead but perfected by The Pillows, it's one of my favorites.

On a related note, I was at some restaurant a while ago and heard the opening to 'Walkin' on the Spiral'... oh wait, but it wasn't!
Anybody have any idea what that song was?

Hm. Never herad ripcord until now. I see the similarities, see differences. They're both great songs.

It could've been the intro to Brain Stew by Green Day... well, you'd have to be really drunk to think that's Walkin' on the Spiral...

No, no, I mean like Across the Universe.
I'm a Beatle-maniac.
EDIT: We're referring to Across the Metropolis.
