I think the main thing that puts the pillows's version over Mr. Children's (and their performance live as well) is the dynamics. Mr. Children's original version retains pretty much the same level throughout, whereas the pillows are able to elicit a much stronger emotional reaction because they know how to use the dynamics to really bring the song to life. the pillows also have way more stage presence than Mr. Children.

Perhaps it's because I envision Tsuyogari as a quieter song. O:
And the vocals of Mr. Children are very impressive.

Re: tsuyogari I don't think Sakurai has nearly as expressive a voice, and I think the way he does Strange Chameleon totally ruins the original feel, while the way the pillows do Tsuyogari manages to increase the tempo while adding more emotion rather than detracting from it.

Re: tsuyogari I can't stand Mr. Children normally, and I definately like the pillows' version better. Sawao puts much more into the vocals, and the performance is much more dynamic. The Mr. Children performance sounds nice... but there's not enough energy during the high points of the songs. Bad dynamics = bad performance. Seriously.
