The song isn't that bad. A little bit poppy though.
Does that mean to assume that the goodness of a song is inversely proportional to how poppy it is? Put it this way: you can save face now by pretending we were having a discussion about bagels.

I didn't like it very much.
I'm a bit ashamed by liking them, I mean, what would someone who doesn't know many pillows stuff think of me if he sees this PV of the band? not only the video, but the song itself. their previous songs were pop but still had their originality. this one sounded like any of those JPop bands.

both pv and song might grow up in me a bit more in the next days, but at first impression it looks like their goal is to make children from 7 to 14 years old to listen to them.

First impression.
I didn't like this song.

Tokyo Bambi was (imo) better. And if Sawao's goal is to make poppy formulaic songs which will appeal to (as KeitarO says) 7-14 year olds then the pillows fan in me will die a little.

Go! Go! Jupiter is in about the same range as Ladybird Girl to me, generic pop. I have a few problems with the video.
Sawao looks like he has a hunchback, and it doesn't look like Manabe is playing guitar but more like he's pleasuring it.

I agree with Keitaro, I can overlook it because I know what they are capable of[Little Busters etc.] but if this was the first song I heard by the Pillows, I'd have thought that they were mediocre at best and probably wouldn't have listened to any of their other songs.

Heh. The trademark Manabe pelvic thrust-sway.
their previous songs were pop but still had their originality. this one sounded like any of those JPop bands.
Yeah, pretty much. It's good to really take your perspective back and think "if I saw this under any other band's name, with a different vocalist...would my opinion be the same?"

Songs like Little Busters, Blues Drive Monster, etc, were just as simple as this newer material in terms of structure, but they had a certain spark to them that made them feel timeless and not like just another cranked out tune.

I think bands like the pillows, noodles, and toddle sort of have a "Can do no wrong" gene. For me, at least. All of them know how to put out very pleasant songs, but the key is to make sure what they decide to record is at the top of their game.

For the record, I love both of Toddle's albums (the second probably more so), and noodles have always been solid.

For the record, this song isn't that bad, and its level of simple poppiness can easily be compared to most of the stuff they've released. OH GOD THE GUITARS DON'T SOUND AS GRUNGY THEY'RE TOO POP NOW.

It's okay. If you don't like it, no big deal, I'm still buying the single. :D

Edit: interestingly enough, this one has a grungier feel to the guitars than a lot of their recent stuff (only pointing this out because some people have been complaining about the "overly clean" production lately).

Edit 2: by the way, the overall reaction I've seen from Japanese fans on Mixi is really positive for this song.

yea.. i don't think their work is bad. but i had to say i didn't like it very much because in general i don't like jpop bands, and that's what i think this song is sounding like. the pillows works as an exception for me in that point. so what i wish more is that they keep changing they're sound style, also being different from most bands, surprising us.

i think that people do read a bit much into their style change...i personally dig this song alot more so than tokyo bambi...but in the end i dig em both alot if that makes any sense. What i look for when i listen to the pillows past and present is just the upbeat feel and i think that they do deliver that same upbeat feel in this song. i guess the trend now is to just wait because the songs grow on you eventually whether you like it or not. :P

UNGH............ :dizzy:

No thanks. It's not all that terrible, but I doubt I'll bother listening to it much.

This chorus is pretty banging. The solo was pretty good I just wasn't feeling the second half of it. The PV was meh but I'm looking forward for what they're going to give us in this coming year.

So the part of the solo you WERE feeling was that repeated single note bend?

I'm sorry, but WHAT?
